Operations Manager Attractive Salary + Performance Related Bonus Full-time, 40 hours per week, based onsite 07:00-15:00 Monday - Friday  The Unicorn Group is a dynamic manufacturing business based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. We provide excellent service and high-quality vending and washroom services products, PVC interlocking floor tiles, rainwater systems and street litter, recycling and medical bins to a range of industries internationally. We're proud of our staff and success to date and have big plans for the future. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to join our Senior Management Team, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of our manufacturing operations. THE ROLE As Operations Manager, you will lead and develop our operational teams whilst overseeing and directing all daily manufacturing activities across the Unicorn Group of companies. You will motivate your team to achieve optimum performance and quality standards ensuring our customers receive an excellent product, on time every time. Reporting directly to the MD and business owner, you will have the opportunity to contribute towards the strategic direction of the business, supporting its growth and development. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct all daily manufacturing activities across the Unicorn Group of companies to ensure optimum performance, efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Lead, develop and support operational teams including Production, Logistics, Warehousing, Goods Inwards, Dispatch, Engineering and Quality to ensure that they meet agreed objectives, supporting business growth.
- Liaise with key personnel in implementing the daily production plan, ensuring orders are fulfilled in terms of priority, reacting to changes as required.
- Review, discuss and monitor the schedule of work as set by the Production Manager, making adjustments as required.
- Perform root cause analysis to determine the source of any underlying issues, within all areas of responsibility.
- Implement strategic solutions to improve efficiency, optimise processes and enhance overall operational performance.
- Manage day-to-day people issues, championing effective employee relations whilst demonstrating a flexible management style.
- Attract, retain and build high performing teams, promoting Unicorn as an employer of choice.
- Develop, monitor and optimise budgets to ensure cost effective operations.
- Liaise with the Engineering Manager to coordinate and approve maintenance of equipment and machinery in a manner which ensures minimal disruption to production, as per maintenance schedule.
- Liaise with external advisors in order to ensure compliance with all health and safety, environmental and quality standards, identifying and implementing improvements where required.Â
- Identify ways to improve profitability through innovation, productivity, waste reduction and continuous improvement.
- Create, develop and ensure accountability for departmental key performance indicators and action plans to support the strategic goals of the business.
- Monitor and review departmental training needs, agreeing training plans with key personnel for implementation.
- Maintain standards in relation to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and NQA & PAS, assisting the team in preparing for internal and external compliance audits.
- Lead all relevant communication and engagement initiatives, encourage two-way communication, and ensure company information is communicated effectively.
- Work closely with all departments across the business to ensure customer, supplier and employee expectations are met.
- Conduct regular team meetings and analyse departmental data, preparing clear, concise reports on key findings as required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing production operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience and understanding of MRP and manufacturing systems.
- Sound working knowledge of operations including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, NQA and PAS quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of dealing with personnel issues.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Flexibility with regards to working hours will be required from time to time in order to support all shifts as required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Level-headed, logical thinker with ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experienced leader and effective people manager.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, Outlook and Excel.
