The role of the Team leader: Early learning play groups requires the individual to provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the team for the purpose of achieving the strategic goals. Requirements

  1. Leadership 1.1   Set performance objectives 1.1.1        Brief team 1.1.2        Monitor and measure individual performance 1.1.3        Plan and allocate work 1.1.4        Discipline team members 1.2   Establish a working team 1.2.1        Identify and assign roles and responsibilities 1.2.2        Orientate and induct new team members 1.2.3        Coaching team members 1.2.4        Train team members 1.2.5        Lead the team 1.2.6        Motivate and build the team 1.2.7        Communicate and negotiate 1.2.8        Manage and resolve conflict 1.2.9        Develop a self-managing team that are equipped and empowered problem solve and self-regulate
  2. Self-management 2.1   Communication 2.2   Demonstrate sound financial judgment 2.3   Utilise time efficiently and effectively 2.4   Manage and cope with stress 2.5   Take responsibility for own development and career growth
  3. Resource management 3.1   Interview and select team members 3.2   Assist with budget plan and management 3.3   Identify cost structures 3.4   Conduct and comply with health and safety procedures 3.5   Establish collaborative network and database of organisations within the region
  4. Quality management 4.1   Conduct meetings 4.2   Solve problems 4.3   Make decisions 4.4   Conduct presentations and public speaking 4.5   Prepare reports 4.6   Meet client/donor needs 4.7   Set clear working objectives 4.8   Manage projects and workload 4.9   Plan and allocate work 4.10         Monitor compliance
Provide input and feedback to the national team for quality improvement and service delivery to ALL stakeholders. NATURE AND SCOPE Knowledge and experience required
  • Relevant degree/qualification (minimum ECD L5)
  • Appropriate experience and knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office package
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
