Sales Manager (Defence) | Pioneering Aerospace Platforms | Global Demand

Full time at a Laimoon Verified Company in Australia
Posted on April 23, 2024

Job details

This burgeoning aviation pioneer has assembled a collection of some of the finest multi-disciplined R&D engineers in Australia. Having designed, developed and demonstrated their first-of-its-kind Piloted & UAV aircraft prototypes to both civil and Defence audiences, the company has attracted tens of millions in funding through private equity and Commonwealth grants, with the directive of realising the platform's full potential for Australian and global customers.

So impressive is the product suite, the company already boasts a backlog of sales orders as unit production kicks into full gear. Their unique craft combine the range, stability and speed of a fixed wing aircraft, with the maneuverability and agility of a rotary wing - all the while, operating at a fraction of the cost of traditional air vehicles. Interest from multinatonal customers, particularly across AUKUS, is palpable. With little in the way of comparable competition world-wide, these products truly sell themselves.

Amongst of a raft of new engineering, operational and business support professionals joining the organisation in 2024, is the requirement to appoint an experienced and successful Sales Manager dedicated to leading the business development function across the Government and Defence portfolio .

Reporting directly to a highly impressive, industry leading CEO, the Defence Sales Manager will work in concert with the executive management team, the Chief Engineer and the marketing group to design the 5-10 year sales strategy which takes the company from ground-breaking aerospace product designer, to billion dollar global juggernaut .

The Sales Manager will initially operate as a standalone resource for the Defence sales division, but will require the capacity to structure, build and lead a dedicated business development, account management, presales and sales support team as the momentum swiftly grows. You will manage Defence project bids and proposals, front media events, attend industry conferences, and walk the halls of crucial Federal, State and military agencies, high profile Defence industry providers, and other associated clientele across the country.

The Defence Sales Manager will ideally bring to the table:

Extensive experience selling sophisticated multi-million dollar products and/or solutions within the Australian Defence & Government domain Strong understanding of Commonwealth bid processes, including capture strategies and tender writing Demonstrated exposure to military engineering projects (ideally, but not exclusively, aerospace) Bachelor or Masters degree (ideally within a relevant engineering, industry and/or management discipline) Exceptional communication, interpersonal and presentation skills A creative, pragmatic approach, willingness to innovate, and cast iron sense of humour The ability to gain and maintain an Australian security clearance (Australian citizenship minimum) The Defence Sales Manager will understand that new technology first requires a "concept " sale, before it then moves into a product and solution comparison. What will become immediately obvious, is that the concept is one that garners universal interest. The product is so unique as to have little direct comparison. And the solution delivers a combination of functional and economic upsides, across a host of practical applications, that traditional aircraft are unable to match.

You may be based anywhere across the East Coast, with business travel required for customer meetings, industry events, product demonstrations / flight tests, organisational strategy planning and team sessions. You will be an autonomous, senior sales professional, will a demonstrated background of Defence industry success, and the ability to architect and deliver lasting revenue growth. You are a chameleon who loves innovation, and would just as happily sit down with a bunch of PhD's, geeking out over their latest engineering breakthrough, as you would be accustomed to working the floor with a gaggle of executives and uniforms at Avalon Airshow.

The Defence Sales Manager engagement represents a foot-in-the-door to a singular aerospace engineering pioneer, at a time of exponential growth, within a high visibility position that offers limitless scope and potential. It is a groundfloor opportunity to shape the sales direction of a business on the cusp of greatness. A generous package with unique early employee profit share options, and the kind of autonomy which is unattainable elsewhere within Defence industry, awaits.
