Senior System Administrator

This job role can be filled either from Sydney or MelbourneOur organisationis providing License Advisory,Technical Consultancy Services and Managed Services to customers in APAC region since 2003. We are an Oracle Gold and Microsoft Silver Partner and specialises in Data Services including Engineered Systems.

We are currently looking for a robust, dynamic and passionate IT professional to act as a Senior Support Consultant / Technical Lead with exposure in Solaris, Linux and/or Unix. The Key responsibilities for this challenging role includes: Managing Unix and Oracle related accounts and act as L2/L3 support for critical System Admin related calls. Ideally we are looking for a candidate who possess capabilities in both Linux & Unix with some background preferably in Oracle. For System Admin Support, you should have experience of 4 or more years with exposure to:

Production support of UNIX or Linux servers for the front and back officePerform daily UNIX/Linux system administration tasks within the UNIX/Linux infrastructure, including patching, monitoring and diagnosing issuesSupport and consultancy for the Development and UAT UNIX Environments, Backup and Storage Products and Disaster RecoveryAutomation of process utilising your scripting (Shell or Perl) skillsDevelop and implement methods to pro-actively manage the environmentOngoing BAU and Project workTechnical skills required include: (not all mandatory)HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux/Redhat installation & administrationWorking with Volume Groups and working knowledge of commonly used storage solutionsComprehensive study & implementation of System backups for all flavours of UnixAssist with design of system and networksPerformance Analysis experienceWorking exposure with Cluster software on Unix FlavoursNFS/NTP/DNS/DHCP/ Network configuration on different Unix Flavours.Comprehensive understanding of networks, DNS, web services, tomcat & Java preferredNetwork protocols (TCP/IP)Shell scripting (ksh, perl)Experience in monitoring systems remotelyExperience setting up Linux or Unix servers from scratchExperience with Oracle Engineered Systems and/or Oracle Sun Servers is preferredExperience in Cloud related technologies in AWS and OCI along with some form of automated deployment tools like TerraForm is preferredSkills: In combination, you are required to have

The potential candidate is expected to be well versed in Oracle versions from 11g to 19c. Candidates with knowledge or experience in cloud technologies will be preferred.Candidates with experience in Microsoft SQL Server from SQL Server 2000 till latest will be preferred but not essential. Experience with other database technologies such as Sybase orPostgreSQL orMySQL will also be preferred but again not essential.

Primary Oracle DBA Duties: Database administration and supportPatch Management Coordination and implementationBackup and recovery planning/testingCoordinate DB work with other Systems Administrators and IT TeamsReview, recommend, and implement new services as requiredMust have RAC, Data Guard and RMAN experienceEither have Golden Gate experience or willing to expert within a short periodMust have Cluster, Failover groups, Mirroring experienceScripting experience both in database and operating systemStrong knowledge of industry level hardware platformsAdditional requirements:

Experience supporting mission critical database platformsAbility to develop and enforce standards and best practicesStrong documentation and communication skills requiredAbility to interact effectively and professionally with staff and customersWeekend and after-hours callout work will be required as part of support rosterAdditional Skills: Cloud technologies exposureFlexibilityto travel interstate or overseasMust be able to clear State or Federal Police character checksYou must have full work rights to apply for this job.
