About The Role

As the Remuneration and Benefits Specialist , reporting to the Section Manager People Services, you will provide specialist advice and support in remuneration, benefits and rewards at Council and be responsible for the day to day operational and strategic remuneration activities for the organisation.  This includes the development, design, implementation, ongoing review, and maintenance of foundational frameworks, policies and procedures to support remuneration activities at Council consistent with the strategic objectives.

The position will be the project lead in the review of Council's salary system and will provide specialist advice and assistance in the introduction of a new payroll system at Council.

  

Key accountabilities With support from the People and Culture Leadership team, design and implement foundational frameworks, policies, and procedures to support remuneration, benefits, performance and rewards at Council consistent with strategic objectives. Working collaboratively with the People and Culture leadership team, Finance and ELT lead the project to review Council's salary system and provide specialist advice and assistance in the introduction of a new payroll system at Council. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to identify remuneration and benefits best practice, benchmarks and trends and provide relevant remuneration and market pay data, including participation in relevant external salary surveys. Coordinate the delivery of the annual remuneration review process; manage and oversee the higher grade pay process; Administer the Job Evaluation System, including facilitating job evaluation panels, system updates and communication of job evaluation outcomes to Managers and employees. Contribute to the rollout of training programs and communication initiatives to ensure effective adoption and utilisation of performance and remuneration frameworks.  Develop and administer a consistent framework and process for remuneration ranges and annual remuneration reviews for Executive, Unit Manager and Section Manager level roles; Administer the review and processing of salary increases resulting from market reviews and prepare data in relation to remuneration for approval for Total Remuneration Packages for Executive, Unit Manager and Section Manager level roles; Provide advice and guidance to employees including People and Culture team on Award, Agreements, Policy, or Legislation relating to remuneration and benefits. This is an opportunity to be a part of one of the largest Local Government People and Culture Groups in NSW.

As a subject matter expert specifically within remuneration and benefits, you will bring to this role demonstrated experience in the design, development, implementation and administration of remuneration and benefits activities. You will have experience preparing reports and statistical information and conducting analysis of reports and data.

In addition to relevant degree qualifications in Business or Human Resources or extensive contemporary experience in a similar role, you will also present with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
