The Role The Traditional Owner Project Officer, Outdoor Recreation, is responsible for contributing to the delivery of the Traditional Owner Game Management Strategy and supporting the development and delivery of Outdoor Recreation policy and programs that impact Traditional Owners.

The responsibilities of the Traditional Owner Project Officer will include:

Contribute expertise to a team working on complex projects that impact Traditional Owners, prepare related project scopes and briefs and assist in the delivery of related policies and programs, including the flagship Traditional Owner Game Management Strategy.Contribute to/or undertake research, analysis and development of policy responses and provide accurate and concise evidence-based advice to Ministers and departmental executive on a wide range of complex and sensitive issues that impact on the delivery of departmental programs.Prepare submissions, reports, briefings and correspondence, papers and presentations to senior management, the Minister, RDOR executive and other relevant stakeholders on a range of policy issues that are clear, concise, and grammatically correct and that demonstrates an understanding of the policy, political and legal context.The Team The position of Traditional Owner Project Officer forms a part of the Emergency Management and Outdoor Recreation branch within the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group.

The Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group supports the delivery of the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation portfolios, and the department's emergency management responsibilities. The Emergency Management and Outdoor Recreation Branch coordinates the departments emergency management responsibilities and the delivery of hunting, fishing and boating policy and strategy.

About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

Policy Skills: Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations; keeps up to date with a broad range of contemporary issues; scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options; liaises with stakeholders.Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved; find innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.Further Information For a confidential discussion, please contact Zane Gaylard, Manager, Game Policy 0449 076 551.
