Senior Financial Accountant Apply locations Australia, NSW, Newcastle (Heatherbrae) time type Full time posted on Posted Yesterday job requisition id R0065247 About the Role Based at our Heatherbrae site, the Senior Financial Accountant role reports to the Head of Finance and Business Control, and is responsible for overseeing the accounting function of the Australian companies ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with the Sandvik FRP and Australian Accounting Standards, as well as guaranteeing all finance related internal and external compliance activities are met.
Core duties include, but are not limited to: Ensuring Accountants and wider Finance Team as applicable are reconciling account balances on the required periodic basis
Spotting areas for improvement and errors, suggesting change to business process if necessary
Providing technical support and advice to Finance Manager and Head of Finance and Business Control
Supporting month-end and year-end close process, analysing financial information before lodgement into reporting systems
Preparing weekly cash flow statements, as well as forecasting of medium and long-term FX exposure to implement appropriate hedging
Assisting Finance Manager and tax consultant in preparing business income tax returns and required disclosures
Assisting in preparing financial information for presentation to Department Managers and Management as necessary
Ensuring tax reporting is lodged and required payments are settled by due dates to avoid penalties as an SGE in Australia
About You To be considered for this opportunity you will possess all the following attributes:
Essential :
Tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting, including relevant certification (e.g. CA or CPA)
Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar position, or as Accounting Supervisor, Chief Accountant
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, such as Microsoft Navision BC
Advanced MS Excel skills including lookups and pivot tables
High degree accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Effective communication skills, written & verbal
Desirable: Experience with the use of business intelligence software (i.e. PowerBI)
Experience in Finance within the manufacturing industry, having a good commercial and business awareness
Having an analytical mind, maintaining a level of professional scepticism
Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
