You will assist the Thrift Shop manager to lead and develop the stores to maximise profits and strengthen links between thrift shops and Corps.Responsibilities includeMaximise sales and revenue through processing of donations to the store by receiving and disposal of non-saleable goodsDeliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs, training staff in best practice customer serviceSupport in the recruitment, maintenance and direction of an excellent volunteer/employee force that run the store efficientlySupervise volunteersEnsure all staff and volunteer records are updated and maintained in relevant database or fileLead a safe workplace through the ongoing promotion of work health and safety standardsThis is a fixed-term part-time position, contracted for 12 months,13 hours per week, based in Bellarine Highway Op Shop in Moolap, VIC.What you will haveCertificate in Retail Operations/Diploma of Business (desirable)Certificate level qualification in Retail Management (desirable)Experience in team management (essential)Merchandising and store presentation skillsExperience managing stockRetail management experience (highly desirable)Experience working and managing volunteers (preferred)Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and ExcelPhysical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of timePhysical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weightPhysical ability to climb laddersA current VIC Driver's LicenceBenefits working at The Salvation ArmyEmployee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling serviceAn inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate, and professional team membersPositively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contributionApplications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.
