The Marketing and Communication Unit (MCU) takes the lead in developing strategies and relationships to build the UTS brand in order to achieve its desired prominence in the market place. It is responsible for effectively promoting and enhancing the image and reputation of the university through the development and implementation of marketing and communication plans, media and public relations activities, internal communication and corporate identity strategy. MCU works with both internal and external stakeholders and delivers services to support them and to promote the overall strategic development of the university.

The newly established Digital Presence Centre (DPC) is part of MCU and is a centre of excellence that will be the hub of expertise, best practices, and resources to advise, govern, and accelerate the Digital Presence through a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The DPC brings together professionals with diverse skills and expertise in areas such as technology, data analytics, UX/UI design, and project management. This multidisciplinary team collaborates to address various challenges and opportunities for the Digital Presence, delivering priority initiatives and requests. 

Detailed Description

About the Role  In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse team that manages and implements Digital Presence initiatives for clients and stakeholders across UTS!

The Web Specialist is accountable for the scope, development, review and management of web sites and web applications within the units and faculties they support.

The incumbent advises on and implements best practices in web production, which support the directives and goals of the UTS Web Governance, web publishing policy and helps UTS achieve its online objectives.

There is an opportunity to work from home some days with this role, with the expectation that there are anchor days in the office each week. As the Web Specialist, you will: •Advise on concepts for website sections based on strategies of UTS and stakeholders, intended audiences, appropriate information architecture and technology. 

•Manage client sites and site sections in the CMS in collaboration with MCU and ITD, where required optimise images and prepare digital media content for web use. 

•Provide strategic advice to client areas on their web presence, including interpretation of web analytics data.

•Liaise with content managers to maintain high standards of content and compliance with university and accessibility guidelines.

With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following six key selection criteria points below: 1.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, writing skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

2.Capacity to exercise independent judgement, demonstrate complex problem solving and analytical skills, creativity, innovative thinking, and self-directed professional development.

3.Familiarity with CMS platforms including Drupal & Optimizely is ideal.

4.Information and usability design on the web.

5.Excellent knowledge of web metrics, particularly Google Analytics.

6.Extensive experience in content management of websites.

Base Salary Range: $102,458 to $113,344 pa (HEW 7)  This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
