Mapping and Geographic Information Systems Coordinator Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security Environmental, Earth & Geosciences (Science & Technology) Government - State (Government & Defence) Technical 5 (Remuneration Package $115,875 - $126,019) Geospatial Services Fixed vacancy in Palmerston The Northern Territory Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security is looking for an experienced Mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator to work within the Geospatial Services Branch. This is a fixed term position, up to the 6 February 2027 and based in Darwin. As part of a small team and reporting to the Manager Geospatial Services, you will be responsible for providing mapping and GIS services, support and expertise to a diverse range of internal and external clients. The successful applicant for the position will play a pivotal role in liaising with data custodians to develop, manage and maintain corporate geospatial datasets. You will exhibit a high level of collaborative and reporting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Your responsibilities will encompass developing, implementing and maintaining standards for cartography/GIS as well as streamlining map production processes within the department. Ideally you will possess expertise in ArcGIS Pro, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) and knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, and be comfortable in providing training in GIS services to staff. Attention to detail and the capability to analyse spatial data will allow you to excel in supplying quality assured spatial information in the form of finished maps. The management of cartographic software libraries, plotters and scanning devices will come under your care. Ideally you will have a knowledge from previous roles of natural resource management, environmental systems or planning processes.
