Job Description Lead Motor Design Engineer Sydney Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads… Sure, testing supercars looks fun but what about taking on the force of gravity? This company are always looking at taking things to the next level. Maybe you feel the same way about your career? "My client are an Australian company that have pioneered aerial navigation and, just six years into their journey, they're already successful and profitable - but still small enough to make big decisions about where they want to take things next." That's where you come in. You'll be the first engineer on a new team to build the world's best motors for drones. Sounds ambitious? Sure, but no one has really cracked drone motors. They're either over-spec'd and too heavy or light in weight and on performance. They know they can do better. So do their customers - because they keep asking when they're going to get into this market. What You'll Be Doing This is a chance for you to shape the direction of a product that could completely change the drone sector right from the start. To optimise. To set new standards. To build something you really want to build. You'll be doing it in a low-regulation, high-potential market as part of a business that's run by engineers and who understand what you need to do your job properly. They're investing in this, not shaving pennies. There's a healthy R&D budget and more hires in the pipeline, including a mechanical engineer and production staff. Everything's set up to make engineering easy - there are close links with manufacturing, smart systems, quick purchase approvals. And you won't have someone upstairs with an MBA telling you to do it faster or cheaper. For them, it's not about time to market - it's about being the best in the market. You won't find any of that in a big corporate environment. All this and you get to do it in sunny Sydney. So not only is the sky the limit - it's also a very nice shade of blue. What You'll Need We're not looking for academics, researchers or managers. We need a hands-on motor engineer - someone on the tools, optimising and building motors. You've probably worked on the production side in a high-volume manufacturing environment and have experience in electromagnetic design, simulation and validation - including system-level optimisation. If you've designed brushless motor products before, great. If that's in a high-reliability, high-performance industry, even better. One more thing - you'll need to be comfortable working in a loosely structured environment. Not everything here is written down. You'll have a lot of freedom to work your way - but where there's autonomy, there's also ambiguity. If that's you, you can look forward to working alongside some pretty smart people who genuinely enjoy what they do. They take pride in their work. They work hard (for eight hours a day). They have fun. There's a good work-life balance there. On top of the salary, there's an 11% superannuation/pension contribution. And wherever you're working now, they'll cover your relocation expenses and help with your paperwork, so it's easy to move here. Just make sure you pack your sunnies - the future's looking very bright. To find out more and for an informal chat, get in touch with me; Julien Bicknell, at The Onset. You can email or call/WhatsApp/Signal . Don't worry about updating your CV, we can think about that later. #J-18808-Ljbffr
