About the Role: We're currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team and make a positive impact in the lives of our customers. In this role you'll work directly with the customer, their families, their support teams, and other relevant stakeholders to improve the customers overall quality of life. Develop, train, implement and review individualised Behaviour Support Plans. Apply the evidence-based practice Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to promote the wellbeing and independence of our customers. Play a key role in fostering positive relationships between internal and external stakeholders. Receive supervision (individual, peer, and group), individualised professional development planning, and supervision for professional development under the PBS Capability Framework. A day in the life of a Behaviour Support Practitioner… Develop, train, implement, and review individualised Behaviour Support Plans for our customers within specified timeframes. Regularly consult, collaborate, and engage with the customer, their support staff, family, and/or other relevant stakeholders within a multi/trans-disciplinary model to provide a holistic and integrated approach to support. Utilise assessments and data collection tools to formulate a customer-specific Functional Behaviour Assessment that determines the underlying function(s) of an identified behaviour. Assist the customers, their families and/or their relevant supports and stakeholders how to implement proactive strategies, skill building goals and reactive strategies. Offer clinical knowledge, expertise, and support to our customers, their families, and support staff in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Review the effectiveness of specific interventions and the success of the Behaviour Support Plan based on data. Plan, deliver, and evaluate behaviour supports in alignment with relevant legislative and ethical requirements. Manage complex case management. Understand and identify restrictive practices, how to implement them safely and effectively, and how to reduce them in line with relevant ethical guidelines and state and federal legislation. What you need to be successful in this role... Demonstrate core/proficient/advanced/specialist skills as per the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework 2019. Maintain suitability to deliver Specialist Behaviour Support under the NDIS. Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in delivering supports to individuals with complex behaviour support needs. Hold a relevant Tertiary Qualification in Allied Health, Disability, Psychology, or other Social Sciences. Have knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principles, including functional behaviour assessment and development of behaviour support plans. Knowledge of policy and legislation related to Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices at both National and State/Territory jurisdictional levels. Understanding of trauma and trauma-informed practice principles. Substantial experience working with individuals, families, and children with disabilities. Effective collaboration skills with various stakeholders including individuals, families, Local Area Coordinators, NDIA, Office of the Public Guardian, DHHS, other government agencies, and specialist support services.
