EL 1 Assistant Director - Project Manager/ Policy Advisor Policy, Planning & Regulation (Government & Defence) You will be joining the Division at an exciting time as the Australian Government repositions its approach to major investments. The Australian Government, in collaboration with the state and territories is embarking on a process of reform to support a more sustainable pipeline of investment and a productive construction sector. A rare opportunity exists for a high-performing individual to join our clients team to deliver significant portfolios of work. Our clients division plays a key role in the Australian Government's investments in major projects. Their work connects, and enriches every Australian community, underpins our economy and society, and empowers our regions. They provide strategic policy advice and deliver programs, projects and infrastructure that touch the lives of every Australian. The Division provides policy advice to Government and works closely with state and territory governments, and peak bodies, to support the delivery of nationally significant projects that drive productivity and social development. This opportunity is across a five-year multi-billion-dollar funding agreement between the Commonwealth and State/Territory governments for the development of major projects. Will ideally suit individuals who are seeking career progression, given the high profile nature of the work and exposure to the Senior Executives. This role offers you the opportunity to develop your experience with Commonwealth-State relations, stakeholder management, risk management while also providing you with the opportunity to practise co-design skills in a negotiating context. This reform is central to many whole-of-government priorities, and their work touches on decarbonisation, First Nations outcomes, recyclables and the circular economy, gender equality, support for local industry, and resilience to natural disasters. Description As an EL 1, you will put your program management and policy skills to good use supporting the Minister, Secretary and Senior Executives to provide oversight on the progress of the reform agenda, analysis and advice regarding risks, managing the secretariat of two engagement forums delivering reform, building and maintaining relations with colleagues, both within the department and with other agencies and manage multiple competing streams of work and respond quickly to changes in direction. As part of this role you will help negotiate bilateral targets with the states and territories, and draft content and supporting guidance material for the new project or other reform activities. You will have great opportunities to contribute your ideas to these important reforms and ensure a smooth level of program management is undertaken.
