Terrific opportunity for a creative and innovative Strategic Communications Manager to lead communication and engagement efforts within an Independent Statutory Authority in the renewable energy sector. This newly developed role is pivotal in overseeing strategic communications across a spectrum of priority areas within your portfolio, acting as a strategic consultant to ensure alignment, integration, and coherence in the Agency's messaging. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and coherence in communication strategies. Through strategic planning and insights-driven communication, you'll drive proactive discourse and stakeholder engagement, ensuring communications resonate effectively with key stakeholders. Moreover, as a trusted advisor, you'll provide invaluable input and best practice advice on engagement, consultation, and stakeholder strategies, shaping the direction of the Agency's communication efforts in alignment with overarching Agency and Government priorities. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications and Engagement, with day-to-day autonomy and portfolio leadership responsibilities Key duties will include: Understand allocated portfolio areas to identify risks, opportunities, and communication strategies. Collaborate with Agency stakeholders to set goals, target audiences, and develop communication plans with the Corporate Affairs team. Create engaging communication materials for various channels and purposes. Provide strategic advice on issues, reputation, and positioning in collaboration with relevant teams. Lead whole-of-agency strategies for engagement, consultation, and stakeholder management. Stay updated on best practices in communication and technology and provide informed recommendations. Use data to inform strategy and continuously improve communication processes. Proactively contribute to enhancing the Corporate Affairs team's effectiveness. Due to the structure of the organisation, this role is offered as a long term labour-hire contract through to end June 2026, with the potential for extension. The office is based in Melbourne CBD, with the flexibility to work from home 2 or 3 days per week. As a labour-hire role, the hourly rate on offer will include 25% casual loading to compensate you for leave entitlements. The rate will be negotiable between $73.91 - 79.50ph + Super commensurate with experience, which is the equivalent to an annual salary of $116,836 - $125,673 + Super. Skills and Experience required: We are seeking a skilled communications generalist, with strong strategy skills, excellent written communication skills, and demonstrated experience developing integrated marketing communications plans. Senior experience in strategic communications, preferably in government, NGO, corporate, or consultancy settings Demonstrated experience in science, medicine, energy or other industry translating technical/complex information into clear communication products Thoughtful, creative and innovative approach to communications Dedication to transparent, meaningful and accessible communications Self-motivation to drive strong outcomes and operate autonomously, while ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders Excellent business partnering and strategic advisory skills, with the ability to make recommendations to senior leaders in complex environments Demonstrated experience in stakeholder mapping and audience segmentation Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage competing deadlines and expectations while ensuring quality and timely delivery Australian citizenship Experience in the energy sector is advantageous but not mandatory. IAP2 community engagement certification, understanding and experience in developing communications as part of a social licence/behavioural change strategies and current knowledge of the political landscape also highly regarded.
