About the role: The primary responsibility of the Safety and Compliance Manager is to ensure effective safety, security, quality and hazard management systems are maintained within Airnorth, to advise on the company wide control of regulatory, technical and operational manuals and documents and to chair the Safety Action Group and act as Secretary of the Safety Review Board. This role of the Safety and Compliance Manager is required under regulation 119.155 for an Australian air transport operation. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Management Oversight of security, occupational health and safety, quality and environment policy and procedures. Overall management of staff within the Safety and Compliance Department. Conduct independent review of Change Management processes. Manage and liaise with external auditors including regulators and external clients in the management of external audits. Establish specific, measurable, achievable, and realistic long and short-term safety objectives. These objectives will be documented, transparent and subject to regular review by the board. Safety Management As the Safety Manager you will provide leadership and direction in support of the companies Safety Management System (SMS) and actively seek to assess, identify and manage health and safety hazards, potential operational hazards and risks. Maintain and review the company SMS. Provide timely advice and assistance on safety matters to managers, staff and contractors at all levels. Conduct incident and accident investigations. Monitor civil aviation regulatory changes to identify effects on the organisation and instigate any required changes. Investigate aircraft accidents, incidents and adverse event occurrences for the purpose of detecting weaknesses within the organisation or within its written systems. Supervise the company's occurrence and incident reporting programs. As necessary conduct investigations, report findings, make recommendations for remedial, corrective and preventative actions and then assess whether these actions have achieved the desired outcomes. Maintain an appropriate reporting system to identify hazards, which includes the ongoing identification and management of hazards to ensure that they are maintained ALARP. Chair and manage the Airnorth Safety Action Group (SAG) meetings. Act as secretary to the Safety Review Board. As the Security Contact Officer provide direction and advice to staff and management on security issues affecting Airnorth company wide.  We are looking for someone who possesses the following but not limited to: Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of an aviation organisation (including engineering, cabin services, ground and flight operations). Detailed and extensive knowledge of Aviation Legislation and its effect on day to day operations. Safety Management Training and experience in the use of aviation safety and quality management systems. Sound knowledge and understanding of Human Factors. Training and Experience as a Lead Auditor. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
