The Specialist, Library Systems and Digital Preservation works within a team setting to help implement and maintain core library systems. Work can vary considerably over time, but may involve documentation, configuration, testing, exploring workflows, performing upgrades, implementing new features, troubleshooting, or running scripts and procedures. The role participates in project planning, consults on outcomes and timelines, and does project work within specified timeframes as required.

The position works within the rapidly changing digital environment, requiring a capacity to learn complex computer applications quickly and comprehensively. The role entails stakeholder management on cross-functional projects and operating within an agile environment, whist utilising a variety of project methodologies and tools to achieve project deliverables and outcomes.

Applying sharp analytical and conceptual thinking and technical expertise, the role provides innovative solutions to resolve complex problems. The incumbent remains abreast of emerging standards, technologies, tools, products, services, and techniques, responding to the increasingly complex requirements of the digital world.

The Specialist, Library Systems and Digital Preservation is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:

Responding actively to the day-to-day operational requirements of the team which may include project work, system troubleshooting, developing and executing test plans, system configuration, upgrades, exploring workflows, or user training for core library systems and digital environments.

Providing technical expertise to support key projects of the team, assisting with keeping detailed appropriate documentation.

Contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions, systems maintenance, enhancements, and implementation of IT related projects, which ensures service excellence and the discoverability of materials, whilst improving the user experience

Supporting other team members with system implementation tasks, data extraction, system configuration, data manipulation, testing, and project work as required
