Full timeThe Performance Audit Services Group (PASG) provides Parliament with assurance about the quality of public resource management and assists the public sector by identifying and promoting better administrative and management practices.As an EL1 Director in PASG (which includes the Defence Major Projects report) your role will be to:plan and deliver lower risk performance audits and assurance reviews that comply with the ANAO Auditing Standards, including development of audit work plans;assist in the management and delivery of higher risk audit products in accordance with approved plans and operational priorities;support the learning, development and wellbeing of your team;communicate audit goals and priorities and ensure the audit is tracking to the audit work plan timeframes and budget and key milestones;manage relationships with entities involved in the audit;discuss and enhance the audit through workshops with the Auditor-General and audit executives, in accordance with ANAO quality procedures; andprepare briefings for Members of Parliament and committee inquiries related to your audit.Who we are looking for:A performance audit is like a research project, so we are looking for inquiring, detail-oriented people who enjoy focusing on a single project for an extended period of time (8-12 months). The successful candidates will think strategically, enabling them to draw conclusions from a broad evidence base, and have experience in preparing evidence-based reports. We are seeking candidates who can:plan, manage and deliver projects within allocated budgets and timeframes;manage work allocations and staff development for a small team;prepare high quality professional audit reports for the Parliament that meet auditing standards;manage and develop positive and constructive entity relationships to support audit delivery;engage with audit entities (including their senior leadership) on a no surprises basis, that ensures their sufficient input and ability to respond to findings;represent the ANAO in parliamentary committees and briefings to parliamentarians;demonstrate how judgments have been made based on available evidence;supervise staff including reviewing performance and providing comprehensive performance assessment and feedback; andcontribute to improvement in performance audit techniques.Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the ANAO, applicants must be an Australian citizen.Applicants are required to submit a current CV/resume and a statement of claims (500 words maximum) outlining why you are interested in this position and why you believe that you have the skills, capabilities, knowledge and experience to be considered for this role.
