The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.About your roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented corporate/commercial lawyer to join our high performing in-house Corporate Legal team. Reporting to a Senior Legal Adviser, you will take a leading role in providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice on a range of matters including information technology (IT) contracts, data sharing agreements and privacy and administrative law matters. In particular, in this role you will provide legal advice in relation to a significant IT transformation program and at times you will be required to work autonomously with the key stakeholders in that program.This role is a full time, 12 month contract based with a preference to be based in our Melbourne office.Some of your responsibilities will include:Provide legal advice and recommendations to advise Ahpra on IT programs including drafting and negotiating complex IT and services contracts, statements of work, change requests and variations and reviewing and advising on RFQ documentationProvide legal advice and recommendations to address and resolve complex issues in respect of commercial, contract, procurement, privacy and public interest disclosure matters, facilities and leasing, intellectual property rights and protection, delegations and authorisations, and records managementProvide legal advice and operates in accordance with legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to the National Law.Supporting Ahpra and the National Boards to manage legal, policy and procedural issues, particularly in relation to the administration of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 as enacted in each State and Territory;Monitoring corporate governance and legislative compliance obligations and identifying opportunities for improvement.As the ideal candidate, you will have:Degree in law - LLB, admitted as a solicitor in an Australian State or Territory;Current practising certificate issued by an Australia State or Territory authority;Proven post-qualification experience, minimum 5 years PAE, within a corporate/commercial department of a top/mid-tier law firm or in-house (government or private sector);Sound commercial knowledge and experience, particularly in relation to complex IT contracts;Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across a large organisation.Hybrid working environment, 2 office days/3 at home17.5% leave loading on annual leaveInclusive and supportive colleagues, enjoy coming to work and collaborating with your teamDiscounted health insurance with Private HealthAttractive salary of $126,367* per annum plus Superannuation (*Salary to increase in July 2024)To apply:Click 'Apply for this job' to submit your application.Your application must include a resume and a cover letter outlining your skills and experience relevant to the requirements in the position descriptionApplicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
