Operations Supervisor, Industrial Services page is loaded Operations Supervisor, Industrial Services Apply locations Sydney, Nova Scotia time type Full time posted on Posted Yesterday job requisition id R15496 SummaryReporting directly to the Sydney District Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating a zero-harm environment, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and for the effective supervision of Operators at our Sydney and Port Hawkesbury Industrial Services locations.Job Duties include but are not limited to:Health and Safety:Ensure on-site operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, within permit conditions and to customer specifications with a significant focus on health and safetyStrong focus on safety, maintenance, and housekeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirementsReport all incidents, safety infractions, non-compliance issues and participate in the investigation and development of corrective actionsEnsure internal and external training is up to date for Operators.Ensure Job Task Observations (JTO's) are completed and up to date for Operators.Conduct training as requiredEmployee Relations:Supervise daily operations, providing feedback, coaching and leadership to the operating teamLead, motivate and develop direct reports utilizing Job Task Observations (JTO's), Vital 9s and Hazard Assessments to reinforce or correct specific behaviorsMonitor compliance for direct reports to internal policies and applicable regulations and legislationsParticipate in the recruitment process and support the onboarding and training of new hiresOperations:Plan, assign, direct and monitor work for Operators based on client requirementsMaintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOP's/SWP's)Identify and recommend continuous improvements to processes and proceduresSupport the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) and our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) ProgramEnsure all visitors to the site (Contractors, brokers, etc.) are complying with site and corporate safety policiesEnsure the compliance of all contractors' site compliance utilizing Field Level hazard Assessments and Safe Work PermitsRequirementsPost-secondary education would be considered an assetMinimum of three (3) years in a leadership, managerial, supervisory, or lead hand roleRelated industrial services operational experience preferred with knowledge of waste management and environmental servicesExperience in a union environment is an assetKnowledge of production management processes, manufacturing equipment and preventativemaintenance principlesAbility to develop safe operating proceduresComputer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, OMS and WorkdayProven organization, time management and problem solving skillsAbility to work evenings and/or weekends, when required.Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skillsWe thank you for your interest.
