This includes team management, program delivery, work quality, and stakeholder reporting of the Finance Controls Assurance team (FCA).The FCA team undertake internal control testing primarily for the purpose of providing controls assurance to Group and Divisional stakeholders on the adequate design, operation and effectiveness of financial accounting and reporting controls.Your new roleIn this role you will:Manage the Operational Risk & Assurance team alongside formulating and driving Operational Risk & Assurance strategic objectives and goals.Effectively coordinate the three lines of defense assurance and manage day-to-day relationships between the Operational Risk & Assurance team, Risk and Internal Audit, whilst also supporting external audit efforts.Develop and maintain an active understanding of QBE, its divisional finance operations, strategic finance projects and the role of controls assurance in QBE.Provide strategic direction and advice on the financial controls assurance function.Work with finance teams to update controls in response to emerging regulatory or reporting issues.Be a subject matter expert on financial assurance, including remaining current on all regulatory, standard and compliance obligations.Ensure QBE Group Business Continuity Management policy is implemented for Group Finance (and dependent processes within Divisions), working closely with Head of Group Financial Risk & Governance as well as the Divisional teams,Develop and deliver the annual control assurance in line with assurance methodology and professional standards.Regular and relevant reporting to Divisional Finance Leaders and the Group Finance management team on results of ICA, trends, systemic issues and material exposures.This role will require:Strategic direction and advice on the financial controls assurance workKey stakeholder management, including with QBE finance leadersMaintaining a good working relationship with technology vendors used for assurance workCollaboration with Risk and Internal Audit teamsContribute as a key member of the Group Finance teamStrong team management including skills development and career pathways of the teamContinual improvement and innovationPlease note that for the successful candidate, this process will include a phone screen with our Talent Acquisition team, 2/3 interviews (either face to face or online via Teams) and background checks.About youSignificant experience in a similar role, preferably within a large financial services or accounting organisationStrong understanding of risk and internal control concepts, in particular relating to controls assurance processes.Understanding of accounting and audit standards, governance frameworks and risk assessment practices.Strong leader, with ability to lead global teams and work with global stakeholders.Ability to influence stakeholders to remediate control gaps and issues.
