Our Journey Monash Health's Mental Health Program provides a comprehensive and broad range of specialist clinical mental health services across all ages. The services are provided in a variety of inpatient and secure extended care units on hospital sites (Kingston, Clayton, Dandenong, Casey), community mental health hubs and in a variety of residential settings. We also provide a number of statewide services. We are in the midst of implementing the recommendations from the Victorian Mental Health Royal Commission. This is an exciting and newly created senior leadership role within the Mental Health Program where you will play a critical role in the management and operation of the Older Adult and Adult mental health portfolio within Monash Health.  A Day in the Life Working closely with the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing operations, implementing strategic initiatives and ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health care. Your passion and deep understanding mental health services, alongside your leadership skills, commitment to promoting Lived and Living experience, and ability to foster collaboration will be instrumental in driving the success of this role. Assist the General Manager in formulating and implementing the organisation's business plans and objectives for mental health service delivery. Provide guidance and direction to department heads, promoting a culture of empathy, compassion, and inclusion for individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges. Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and promoting a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees. Oversee the day-to-day operations ensuring efficient, safe and effective high quality mental health service delivery. Identify operational challenges and develop innovative solutions to improve the overall quality and efficiency of mental health services, with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Monitor financial and key performance indicators by ensuring responsibility and accountability is understood with strategies to support sustainability and growth. About You You are able to demonstrate extensive senior level operational experience in complex public sector environments with an excellent track record of service delivery and key results. Knowledge and understanding of patient flow and safety will be required with a clinical background highly regarded. You have strong and effective leadership to employees, fostering a culture that supports high quality care, financial responsibility and continuous improvements. You bring extensive operational leadership experience and aligned qualifications. You have a demonstrated understanding of operations in an acute health setting and thrive on the opportunity to develop and meet strategic and operational objectives. Having previous experience in a large multi-disciplinary environment, you inspire your team for growth and development and have a natural ability to develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You are an excellent communicator with highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Your career has seen you gain experience in community engagement initiatives, collaborating with community organisations, and fostering partnerships to enhance mental health service delivery and working with diverse populations, addressing health disparities to ensure equitable access and culturally sensitive care. What you need: 5+ years of proven senior experience in operational hospital or non-government mental health services. Operational management with a track record of successfully managing complex operations. Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex issues and balance competing priorities. Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in business, finance, healthcare management or human behaviour discipline. Clinical qualifications and experience leading in a clinical context is highly desirable. Knowledge and understanding of mental health services, including clinical practices, regulatory requirements and quality standards.
