Senior Communications Advisor opportunity Approx. $65-$70 per hour plus Super dependent on experience Full-time, 6-month contract. Immediate start Melbourne CBD /WFH Arrangement About the role Our client, a government agency, seeks an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join them on a full-time, 6-month contract based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start. As the Senior Communications Advisor, you will develop and execute integrated communications strategies and tactical plans to support key projects and initiatives within the Corporate Services. You will provide quality advice and support to leaders, internal stakeholders, partners and project owners by developing effective communications including content and timing for key initiatives, presentations, events, speeches, and direct communications.

Key duties Reporting directly into the Communications Manager, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

Developing external communication strategies and engagement activities (including events) to meet quality standards and timelines. Identifying and developing communications to support the delivery of strategic projects and initiatives and priorities, relevant to target audiences. Generating positive publicity through effective media relations with broadcast, print and new media and assist with management of media issues. Writing news stories, features articles and other media-related communications for both online and print publications. Provide expert and specialist advice on external, media relations and internal communications to ensure a coordinated approach to communication. Effectively communication skills and constructively manage stakeholder issues to sound outcomes. Experience and Skills The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

Expertise in developing integrated communications strategies to effectively reach target audience and achieve objectives. Proven experience developing and leading end-to-end implementation and delivery of external communications strategies, plans, and events. Experience in preparing complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. Proven ability to use project management, negotiating and influencing skills to facilitate decision-making and reach agreements in a highly sensitive and complex environment. Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, set goals and high standards of performance. Experience managing and developing staff with proven ability to actively and collaboratively contribute to a high-performing communications team which delivers outstanding results. Qualifications Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline. Sound knowledge of and experience working within government organisations.
