Your Role: As the Area Manager - Substations, you'll be pivotal in overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of substations within designated regional areas. Reporting to the Project Construction Director, you'll lead a dynamic team of engineers, designers, and construction advisors to ensure projects are executed with the highest safety and efficiency standards. When construction begins, the project will transition from office-based (Pre-construction, approvals) to site-based. Depending on the package assigned, you will work on a roster and be expected to be on-site during these periods. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor your team, setting performance expectations and strategies to achieve project objectives.Manage substations' design, construction, and commissioning, developing and executing project plans, schedules, and budgets.Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment with project goals.Champion a culture of safety excellence, adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards.Provide technical guidance to construction engineering teams, ensuring high-quality substation designs and solutions are achieved.Allocate resources effectively to optimise project performance outcomes.Manage changes in project scope and develop risk mitigation strategies as needed.Requirements: Degree-level qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction.Experience in managing civil infrastructure works related to HV infrastructure delivery, preferably up to 500kV.Leadership qualifications or previous experience in leading others in a senior capacity.Strong project management skills with experience in the energy, infrastructure, or transmission sectors.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in project management tools, engineering software, and industry standards.Strong understanding of substation design principles, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.The project will transition from office-based (Pre-construction, approvals) to site-based when construction begins.
