We're looking for an art director to own the artistic vision for our next game! You'll be responsible for defining the look of our next title and will work with the entire art team to make this vision a reality.

If building games like our first title, Wylde Flowers excites you and you can bring your experience and love of inspiring and nurturing artists in remote environments all over the world, then this is the position for you!

This is a remote-working position

This position is 38 hours a weekWork around your family and personal commitments.Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.

You will need to have some reasonable timezone overlap with both Melbourne and the USat the same timeand we have a strict studio policy not to hire in Europe or other locations where this is not possible during the daytime.

We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.

This is a full-time permanent position with 3 months probation.

$150,000 AUD ($110,000 USD) annual base salary plus benefits.

Skills & RequirementsWhat you'll be doing

Define the look and feel of our games by:

Creating and maintaining art bibles that describe every aspect of the art in order to keep a cohesive vision while many hands create the game.

Providing clear, kind and actionable feedback to all members of the art team in order to maintain the art style and while respecting milestone needs and timelines.

Cooperating and collaborating with the Art Production Director, Technical Director, and other art leads in order to make sure the art vision is achievable with our tools and team.

Supporting, empowering and inspiring the concept artists in order to create designs that fit the game art and are achievable by the art team.

Expressing your artistic vision with your own works by creating visual target images in order to inform the art and graphics team's development.

Will have acted in an art direction capacity on a project with a mid-sized art team.

Has experience both defining the vision and shipping a game as art director.

Understands and embraces the necessary care and attention it takes to create art representing many communities and cultures.

Understand and be fluent in art language for 3D and 2D Art as well as VFX, UI and Marketing in order to oversee the look and feel for all artistic aspects of the studio.

Is delighted by working with a diverse team and understands how to be flexible in management style to suit lots of personality types and experience levels.

Loves to teach, empower and discuss as well as loves to learn from the people they work with.

Is passionate about the challenges and opportunities presented by a fully remote, international team. Able to adapt management styles to suit predominantly asynchronous communication and documentation.
