Reporting to : Senior Software Engineer. About Us Liquid Instruments was founded by a team of experimental physicists and engineers with expertise in precision measurement and gravitational wave detector instrumentation. We provide equipment that helps scientists, engineers, students and professionals seamlessly acquire data, run measurements, and control their experiments. Our products pioneer a new approach to test and measurement. This approach combines advanced digital signal processing with reconfigurable FPGA hardware to replace many conventional pieces of equipment with a single device at a fraction of the cost. Our founders developed this technology over several decades working on the LIGO gravitational wave detector and on NASA's GRACE Follow-on mission. Position Summary We're looking for someone to help develop our macOS and Windows desktop apps - beautiful and powerful user interfaces for our Moku range of hardware devices: The codebase is cross-platform, written in modern C++, and uses Qt Widgets for the UI. You'll be designing and implementing features like showing and modifying the state of the hardware, displaying graphs and measurements, performing calculations, importing / exporting data, and much more. You'll be working as part of a small team of engineers who develop the desktop and mobile apps, coordinating closely with the firmware and FPGA teams. Requirements: You must have: A tertiary qualification with a focus on computing. Experience in C++. Experience in Qt Widgets or a similar UI framework. Excellent communication skills. A strong understanding of what makes a user interface look good and work well. The ability to solve complex problems in a highly technical environment. Preferably, you also have: Experience in Git or a similar version control system. An interest in physics, electrical engineering, or another field in our market.
