Open Arms - Veterans &Families Counselling (formerly VVCS) is Australia's leading provider of highquality mental health assessment and clinician counselling services forAustralian veterans and their families. Open Arms are focused on meeting clientneeds through a combination of proven clinical practices and emergingevidence-based approaches.

Outreach Program Coordinators(OPCOs) work within the Open Arms Division of the Department of Veterans'Affairs (DVA), providing coordination, clinical governance and management ofthe Open Arms Outreach Provider Program inclusive of Outreach Program Clinicians,Group Program Facilitators, external Clinical Supervisors, and partnershipreferrals.

OPCOs work under the direction ofan Assistant Director and develop and maintain professional relationships withOutreach Program Providers, facilitate communications, and coordinate clinicalgovernance and support activities within the Outreach Provider Program.  OPCOs are required to make decisions, problemsolve and navigate complex client issues, whilst adhering to relevantlegislation, ethical guidelines and policies. Critical thinking, communicationand interpersonal skills are paramount, and OPCOs must demonstrate high levelsof integrity and emotional intelligence. Bringing knowledge of veterans' andtheir families' experiences to the role, OPCOs demonstrate respect for allclients and uphold a strong commitment to service delivery outcomes, alongsideconfidentiality and privacy.

Eligibility Under section22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australiancitizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).All applicantsexternal to DVA offered employment will be required to successfullyundergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a securityclearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with theAustralian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements. Mandatory Requirements 

One or more of the following:  Qualifications as an AHPRA registeredPsychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental HealthRegistered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR Qualification as a Social Worker eligible formembership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) andeligible to apply for Mental Health accreditation, OR Qualifications as a Counsellor with a minimumLevel 4 Australian Counselling Association registration.  Notes This recruitment process is beingused to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s. Where a non-ongoing position isoffered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 18months.

A merit pool of suitableapplicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing andnon-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engagedinto the APS will be subject to a probation period.
