Reports to: Minerals Country Business Line Manager Australasia Direct Reports: Operations Manager, QA Co-ordinator, HSSE Co-ordinators, Maintenance Manager, Business Support Manager, Travel Co-ordinators, New Site Project Manager Support: Finance, Human Resources, Projects Co-ordinators Business Line: Minerals Location: Perth, Western Australia Department: Mine Laboratories Financial Accountability: All Outsourced Laboratories - Minerals BL Australia Position Purpose Lead Intertek' s Outsourced L aboratory business across Australia to deliver strong performance including growth , meet or exceed client and Intertek Group requirements, provision of a safe work environment and an engaging high perfo r ming work culture. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (including but not limited to) Financial Full P&L Accountability for all Outsourced Operations throughout the applicable region Produces accurate forecasts and reviews P&L performance against monthly (track 1) and longer-term (track 2) revenue/profit/margin/cost variances/Capex spend and overall cost control (noting variable costs are proportional to revenues) Annual preparation of budgets and strategy growth plans to include market trends, competitor analysis, capex and headcount Operational Full accountability for Operations, Quality, Productivity and HSE across the portfolio of operations Daily, weekly, monthly use of the 5X5 platform to drive key KPIs, includes laboratory efficiency, productivity, TAT, sales, service delivery, complaints, people and HSE - ensure actions plans are created and consistently tracked using the 10X Cockpit Be an escalation point with client representatives to address production, quality and other related requirements Routine site visits to meet colleagues and drive visibility of management - similarly connect with existing customers on each site visit Creates insight for reports and commentary for monthly performance reviews Drives a culture of continuous operational excellence through 10X Lean and Kaizen tools to analyse workflows to improve processes and efficiencies Creates an internal culture of margin accretive innovation to expand the Core offering to existing and new clients Communicate all operating policies and/or business updates at regular Town Hall / Teams meetings through an engaging leadership style Collaborate and co-ordinate with the Geochemistry business where the client requires regional support Ensure the operations meet the requirements and guidelines of Intertek's ISO17025 and ISO45001 corporate accreditations For successful bids liaising with clients and following the implementation plan with responsibility for: Procurement of equipment and consumables Delivery to client site Installation and commissioning Development and implementation of site specific Safety Management Plans, Quality Management Systems, Safe Work Procedures Liaise with Intertek technical experts for customised methodology where required Customer Delivers superior sales and customer service by seeking out current and new opportunities both MAI (Margin Accretive) and expanding from the Core services - a positive TQA partner to the customer Track and monitor delivery to customer expectations and KPI ' s. Negotiate variations to contract with customers as and when required. Drive the business unit to add value and drive continual improvement. Serve as an escalation point of contact for the customer related to quality, customer service, or incidents. Ensure appropriate approvals before responding to client complaints and/or legal matters Actively seeks opportunities to upsell to Customers with new products and services; work in partnership with other Minerals Managers to develop ATIC Total Quality Assurance services Leads the Business Development teams to identify and progress new service offerings. Includes expansion opportunities which require Capex spend Consistently track Net Promoter Score (NPS) activity plans ensuring full communication with site leads and customers Act as KAM for appropriate clients People Role models the Intertek values and sets a positive example for all employees using the 10X Leadership Energies Promotes employee engagement ensuring team members work together as a cohesive team Communicates regularly with direct team and wider site colleagues ensuring clarity on direction, performance expectations and recognition of individual achievements Lead and coach direct reports; consistently focused on My 10X Journey performance and growth reviews to give meaningful feedback, building future talent pipeline, succession planning and people plans Plans for an agile organisation design and ensures the right manpower planning to succeed Continual training and awareness of Intertek's information platforms. Liaising with HR advisor for recruitment and onboarding of staff Position Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Other Knowledge A relevant tertiary qualification in scien ce Experience in commercial laboratories and minesite laboratories including at least 10 years ' experience in leadership roles Minerals industry experience and contacts Understanding of the mining lifecycle with an emphasis on samp ling, processing and analysis and Intertek ' s service offering across the life cycle Knowledge of and experience with ISO 17025 and ISO 45001 accreditation s and their requirements Skills Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Strong organisational skills Strong IT skills and ability to use all key Microsoft systems Strong customer service orientation Abilities Sel f - motivated with strong attention to detail Strong leadership abilities to lead engaged and high performing teams Understand P&L and budget processes Regular performance reviews Other Continuous improvement through performance reviews, staying abreast of innovations and potential impl em entations to improve process flows or offer new value add services Must be mobile to travel to various s ites and client office s , and compliant with OHS directives Providing management relief if required Intertek Global Requirements Leadership Lead by example, comply with all legal, professional and company requirements.
