About the Role 

This position reports directly to the Deputy Chief Engineer - Research and Development at Tritium PTY Ltd and is based at Murarrie, Brisbane.

As the Engineering Manager - Firmware, you will lead our team of skilled firmware engineers to develop and optimise the embedded software that drives our DC Fast chargers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction of our products, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and seamless integration within the electric vehicle ecosystem.

You will manage and lead the team in all technical and commercial aspects of Firmware program delivery. This role requires a candidate who has a deep and broad experience of not only working in Firmware Engineering programs in an environment with often competing priorities and levels of ambiguity, but also be able to coordinate & manage the team to achieve project success.



 Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

Provide leadership to the Firmware Engineering department, setting clear objectives, fostering innovation, and promoting a collaborative and results-driven culture.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware Engineering, Software Development, Product Management, Field Reliability and Quality Assurance, to drive the end-to-end firmware development lifecycle.Define the firmware architecture, design principles, and coding standards that align with the company's technical and business goals.Oversee the development and implementation of firmware solutions that enable efficient and reliable DC Fast charging operations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.Manage workload according to company priorities, dependencies and customer needs.Lead the identification and resolution of technical challenges, making informed decisions that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the development process, streamline workflows, and optimise resource utilisation.Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to EV charging systems, embedded software, and firmware engineering.Act as a technical mentor and coach to team members, promoting professional growth and skill development. About You Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field relevant to the industry. Advanced degree preferred.Proven experience (10+ years) in firmware development, with a strong track record of leading and managing firmware engineering teams.Deep expertise in embedded software development, real-time operating systems, and microcontroller architectures.Solid understanding of power electronics, control systems, and communication protocols relevant to DC Fast charging solutions.Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, ensuring efficient and collaborative development processes.Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.Familiarity with industry standards such as OCPP, OSCP, ISO 15118, DIN 70121, IEC 61851, CCS1/2, CHAdeMO & NACS is desirable.Passion for clean energy, electric vehicles, and sustainable technologies.What's on offer
