The opportunity

The Principal Advisor, Legislative Services provides expert knowledge and advice incorporating legal, policy, strategic and statutory matters relevant to the Return to Work scheme and provides support to the Manager, Legislative Services. You will have the unique opportunity to work on and lead projects and initiatives that are fundamental to ReturnToWorkSA's approach to, and delivery of its legislated objectives.

The position

The principal advisor is responsible for, among other things:

Supporting Legislative Services in the progression of legislative and regulatory reform, including development of underpinning policy through to legislative design, instruction of parliamentary counsel and guidance of Bills through Parliament. Providing wholistic advice to ReturnToWorkSA's senior management, executive and Scheme owner (currently the Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector) incorporating a balance of policy, strategic, legal and statutory considerations. Building trust, confidence and maintaining rapport with the Minister's Office, South Australian Cabinet Office and the Office of Parliamentary Counsel. Providing advice and services to the Corporation related to legislated ministerial functions and/or consultative obligations.

Contributing to Scheme regulation and improvement. This role will be a full-time fixed term contract for two years.

About you

You are a solution focussed and motivated person with experience working in personal injury scheme(s), preferably in a policy, legislative change or regulatory function. You will have an understanding of the mechanics of State Government/Parliament, and/or a Minister's Office, and desire to make a meaningful and positive impact for injured workers and employers. You possess excellent communication skills, inclusive of exceptional writing skills, and can build trusting relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Remuneration for this position is from $107,842 - $124,707 (exclusive of superannuation).
