Description About the role Due to growth, we are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior GIS Analyst to provide leadership and support to our GIS team. Our GIS team sits within Stantec's Environment and Geosciences group, and assists with internal GIS support, data management and geospatial analysis - particularly remote sensing - on a range of mining-related projects. These projects include environmental approvals, ecological surveys, mine closure and rehabilitation.

The role is based in our Perth office, and we offer flexible work arrangements such as work from home, staggered hours, and other flexibility options. Responsibilities would involve: Lead and mentor a small team of highly skilled GIS specialists

Lead and execute all facets of GIS projects, including technical and non-technical aspects

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions into broader organizational workflows

Provide technical support to the GIS team and broader business

Liaise with internal and external subject matter experts

Build and maintain client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunities

Stay up to date with the latest advancements in GIS technology and contribute to research initiatives

Participate in core spatial tasks such as remote sensing analysis, production of cartographic figures, spatial database management, production and QAQC of spatial data deliverables, and provision of adhoc GIS support to Stantec staff

To be successful for this role you'll need: Degree in Geographical Information Systems or similar Tertiary Qualification

Minimum 6 years industry experience in GIS

Previous leadership experience

Strong knowledge and experience in the use of remote sensing software (e.g., eCognition, ArcGIS Pro) and image processing algorithms (e.g., machine learning, deep learning)

Experience across ESRI Software Suite and FME

Programming skills (proficiency in Python language preferred)

Genuine interest and passion towards environmental science

Ability to lead and work across multiple projects/teams simultaneously, maintaining client and staff relationships while delivering work effectively and within time and budget constraints

Strong commercial acumen and ability to seek out new business development opportunities

An interest in embracing innovation to continually improve the work we do
