To generate new business leads and prospects

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE HOWDEN INSURANCE BROKERS LTD JOB PURPOSE INPUT To make contact with potential clients via the telephone, correspondence, email, fax and other electronic means to promote Howden Insurance Brokers Limited in order to obtain their proposal forms for future negotiations and record outcomes using I.T. skills.

OUTPUT To support Brokers with potential new clients from the above actions and record this using I.T. skills

DIRECT REPORTS - No supervisory activities

Duties and Responsibilities

General conduct

1 To act with due skill, care & diligence at all times

2 To observe high standards of integrity and deal openly and fairly with clients at all times

3 To conduct all business in line with the company policies, procedures and FCA regulations

The company policies, procedures and standards manual must be read, understood and followed at all times in relation to this role

4 To ensure a safe working environment in line with company's health and safety policy

5 To keep confidential all client and company information gained as a result of this position and use this information only as laid down in the above manual and other company directives

6. To attend training sessions deemed appropriate

7 Constantly seek to improve knowledge of Professional Indemnity Insurance

8 To use company standard documentation and not to alter these documents without consent

9 To support colleagues

10 Maintain high standards of personal presentation

11 To refer any issues outside of your normal responsibilities to a senior member of staff

12 To adopt the "in event of absence" policy when required.

13 To act and adopt a professional manner at all times.

14 Be able to work independently and as part of a team

15 To refer and adhere to company staff handbook

16 To ensure CPD is maintained at all time

Role

1 Have the ability to professionally and effectively employ sales skills to achieve performance and targets within specified time scales and as directed

2 Be able to understand data, maintain and update the company's database with accurate and current information gained from role activities

3 Be able to identify and develop sources of potential clients

4 Have the ability to effectively communicate with clients to gain commitment to return proposal form

5 Have the ability to overcome client resistance/objections

6 React positively and effectively to campaigns and projects

7 Be able to demonstrate a required knowledge of Professional Indemnity Insurance, relevant selling points and benefits

8 Maintain a current and accurate knowledge of competitors

9 Keep abreast of competitor activity and recommend any necessary tactical action

10 Plan diary and work load to make effective use of working day

11 Liaise with other members of the team to actively promote performance and target opportunities

12 Undertake all responsibilities with reference to company's Policies, Procedures and Standards Manual

13 Undertake any reasonable duties as specified

14 To ensure relationships with clients, Insurers and outside agencies are maintained and improved

General administration/record keeping

1 Handle correspondence related to broking activities in line with the company's operational manual

2 To update and maintain company records which includes clients files, spread sheets, etc., with information gained in a timely fashion

3 To act promptly to resolve any issues or matters highlighted by any other member of the company or outside agency

4 To be able to work to strict guidelines and time frames to ensure documentation to and from clients and Insurers is maintained

5 To ensure all internal communications are acknowledged and actioned

6 To update the new business spreadsheet (s) after each task for each client.

7 To manage an effective diary system for your own prospect's to ensure all cases are handled to the company's high standards.

8. To keep detailed telephone and meeting notes in the appropriate records

9. To meet reasonable sales targets and to provide up to date sales figures, activities figures and additional information as requested by Managers and/or Directors.
