The Governance and Integrity department enhances governance practices, improves decision-making and manages critical functions. It addresses statutory functions, strengthens preparedness for elections and caretaker conventions, and streamlines responsibilities to foster staff, councillor, and community confidence in integrity matters.





About the Role: The position manages the operations and administration of the Banyule Cemeteries Trust which includes the following:

Provide strategic advice to the Banyule Cemeteries Trust and Banyule City Council Supervise the contract for grave-digging and horticultural services at Warringal Cemetery Supervise the contract and the overall project management for new Cemetery Database and Mapping system Guide and supervise the Cemetery Project Officer with the implementation of the new Cemetery Database and Mapping system Provide support to the Executive and Councillors and Governance and Integrity team Skills, experience and certificates Prior experience in managing a cemetery (preferred) Int erpretation and understanding of the provisions of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (the Act) and the Cemeteries and Crematoria Regulations 2005 (the Regulations). Working knowledge of and experience in the Local Government Act 2020 and Freedom of Information Act 1982 . Demonstrated experience in contract supervision, including Risk management and OH&S requirements Ability to supervise, mentor and guide staff members Knowledge, experience and contract supervision of the new Cemetery Data Base & Mapping System. Knowledge and experience consulting with the Department of Health processes including Grant applications and submission of fees and charges. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Governance department and experience liaising with Office of the CEO, Mayor and Councillors and key statutory requirements for Councillor conduct Demonstrated ability to provide accurate and confidential advice and support to the CEO, Mayor and Councillors. Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders.
