The Piping Designer specializing in chemical, pharmaceutical and process plants will operate as an integral part of the drafting and design team in producing project drafting deliverables, developing conceptual designs for project implementation. Reporting to the Design Coordinator, this position will involve, but not be limited to the following responsibilities: Provide professional support to the piping design team in the preparation of project deliverables. Ensuring project schedules and man-hour budgets are met for areas of assigned work. Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in the materials handling industry. Producing Company and industry standard models and design drawings from the design engineer calculations and sketches. Follow and implement all relevant Company standards and procedures and ensure design drawings comply with all relevant Australian and International Standards. Produce plant layouts from preliminary project data and design information. Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures. Review of vendor drawings and design data. Ensure project design data of work is disseminated to other project team members in an efficient and timely manner. Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design work criteria and deliverables. Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met. Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency. Ensure a high level of communication is attained within the design team. Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the design team as required. Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations. You will possess: University Degree in Engineering Design Drafting or 3+ years' experience in a similar role with relevant industry experience. Proficiency in the design layout and detailing of chemical, pharmaceutical or refinery process plants Experience in OpenPlant Modeller and PID Experience in gold, base metals and iron ore is advantageous Understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in chemical, pharmaceutical or refinery process plants.
