Georges River Council have an opportunity to join their passionate and talented team as a Senior Strategic Planner.The role sits within our Environment & Planning Directorate - the Strategic Planning business unit are responsible for developing policies, strategies and associated planning documentation across all of Council's major planning functions to facilitate a coordinated approach to long term strategic planning.In this role as Senior Strategic Planner you will lead in the preparation, assessment and management of consultants in respect of work associated with planning proposals, planning instruments, development control plans, plans of management and other relevant Council policies, prepare and assist in the development and implementation of land use plans and programs, and work to mentor and motivate staff.As the Senior Strategic Planner you will assist the Manager and Coordinator Strategic Planning, and the team as a whole in the delivery of its major functions including: The preparation of strategic planning documentation including the preparation of major policy, master plans and planning documentsAssessment of planning proposalsTransport planningPlans of management and Master Plans for Council's parks and reserves What We Offer Permanent, Full time - 70 hours per fortnightSalary from $106,310.97 - $123,177.22 per annum plus 11% superannuation dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate Leaseback vehicle/allowance optionFlexible working arrangements including a 9 day fortnight, hybrid work arrangements, and flexible start and finish timesHealth and Wellbeing paid leaveFitness Passport Program offering discounted membership for you and your family to selected facilitiesEmployee Assistance ProgramSalary Packaging OptionsSponsored Study ProgramParental Leave and SupportEmployee Rewards ProgramOngoing Education and Resources The successful candidate will have Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Architecture or related disciplineCurrent Drivers Licence Class C (Car) Skills Demonstrated experience and minimum 5 years' experience in Land Use PlanningDemonstrated knowledge of planning legislation and practiceDemonstrated experience in policy development and implementationDemonstrated project management, team leadership, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, including coaching and mentoring staffDemonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to initiate and respond effectively to changeExcellent written and oral communications skills, including ability to communicate with a range of stakeholdersAbility to work both individually and in a team environment with minimal supervisionProven organisation and time management skills If you have made a positive commitment to further your career and you possess the attributes located in the complete Position Description essential criteria, then please submit your application today.
