The Configuration Management Manager is a functional leadership role responsible for managing people and their careers within Configuration Management for Ultra Maritime Australia. Configuration Management Managers will complete Configuration Management tasks, including Project Leadership and Technical Execution, for the remainder of their time deployed on projects for Ultra Maritime Australia.

What you will be doing … Project Leadership and Technical Execution: Developing and report on progress against the configuration management program plan. Managing configuration control for deliverables, documentation, and engineering baselines for the engineering program. Managing the identification of configuration items and configuration status accounting and reporting. Supporting engineering review boards for the engineering program. Adhering to Ultra Maritime engineering policies and procedures to execute the engineering program which may include project specific tailoring. Providing input to develop Ultra Maritime's vision and strategic plan. Identify opportunities to improve Ultra Maritime's policies and procedures. Functional Leadership: Providing Configuration Management functional leadership. Ensuring Configuration Management personnel are available to work on customer funded projects, internally funded projects such as Internal Research & Development (IRAD), Bids & Proposals (B&P) or overhead funded change initiatives and other emerging needs, plus other planned activities as necessary, balancing Configuration Management priority of different requests. Talent management and development of Configuration Management personnel including hiring, retention, performance feedback, mentoring, talent management, career, and development planning. Identifying, developing, and implementing new or updates to existing Configuration Management policy, processes, and procedures to meet current and emergent Configuration Management requirements in line with Ultra Maritime initiatives as well as industry best practices. Ensuring the provision of required Configuration Management tools and equipment to support Configuration Management processes. Formal training in configuration management and/or a bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent). At least 7 years of experience in configuration management in the defence industry. Experience in Defence design and development. Working knowledge of a broad range of engineering functions Do you have … An understanding of the whole project lifecycle, from bids and proposals through to in service support to define configuration control for engineering projects. An understanding of configuration management baselines and their alignment to design reviews as part of the systems engineering process. An understanding of the controls required to manage data which may be export controlled, security classified or commercially sensitive. An understanding of the Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) suite of templates including Data Item Descriptions (DID) and their application. Experience using configuration management tools, with an understanding of requirements management tools and enterprise resource planning tools.
