National Laboratory Operations Manager Clayton, Victoria Australian Clinical Labs (ASX:ACL - Clinical Labs) is committed to be the pathology provider of choice. About this role. This exciting and pivotal role will have a significant impact on the overall performance of one of Australia's largest and most successful pathology groups. The primary objective of the position of National Lab Operations Manager is to strengthen the performance of the ACL brand through the standardised performance of the National Lab as well as supporting all ACL labs to increase revenue, volume and quality, along with the cost effectiveness of service. 

The National Lab Operations Manager is responsible for the performance of the National Lab in Clayton VIC and supporting each of the State Managers in optimising best practices across the group, including revenue maximization, market share growth, cost minimization, quality, human resources and safety performance. 

This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will lead performance of the laboratories nationally. The role is focused on continuously reviewing and improving their operations, systems, logistics, medical relationships and processes to ensure effective and efficient service, and to sustain their long-term financial viability. The role will work with State and National teams - Marketing, IT, HR/Safety/Quality and Finance - to achieve agreed outcomes.

Essential personal attributes required to be successful in this role. You will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with medical professionals, scientists and other staff. You will need to lead a team for enhanced performance locally as well as influence nationally. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of process operations in all disciplines and you will have an aptitude for sales and revenue enhancement, along with a good understanding of the processes and methods for revenue enhancement. 

In addition, strong project management skills and experience of change management and leadership within a scientific environment will be highly attractive. We are expecting a high-level understanding of operations and the ability to effectively manage the activities and costs associated with central and regional laboratories. As a leader you will have the ability to undertake multiple projects at a time, be able to effectively delegate and have strong coaching and mentoring skills.

What will be challenging in this role? Some of the key challenges in this role include the ability to Influence other leaders to make data based and strategy-based decisions where they are not your line managers. Change management can also be challenging especially following a merger or acquisition, here your people and operational integration skills will be key.

Other challenges might include. Enhancing revenue and minimizing costs Managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously Working on projects across multiple sites Ability to clearly articulate ideas and change and engage others in same Ability to manage time across multiple actions to ensure all are successfully delivered. Qualifications and experience required. You will need a relevant university degree, preferably in science. An advanced degree would also be attractive as would any qualifications in process improvement (Lean / Six Sigma), Project Management or Change Management.

We also seek a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in high volume operations and a minimum of 5 years' experience working with and reporting to senior company executives. You will also need 5+ years of direct experience with demonstrated success and financial results leading teams. The leadership of change projects with multiple stakeholders is highly desirable as is demonstrated effective interactions with medical professionals, particularly in a change environment.
