What you'll do:

As a Design Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscape in Queensland. You will be responsible for managing complex procurement activities while maintaining best practices. Your ability to lead by example will be crucial as you deliver sensitive procurement services in line with government strategies. You will also manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, acting as the primary point of contact for suppliers. Your role will involve liaising with customers to understand their needs and recommending solutions that align with government goals. Additionally, you will assist in building the procurement capabilities of your team members.

Utilise Excel, QContracts, SAP and other systems to collate and analyse data, informing sound decision making.

Manage procurement activities ensuring best practice, including provision of expert advice on specifications, evaluating offers, contract management and administration, supply market analysis and other general procurement activities.

Lead by example in delivering highly complex and sensitive procurement services for the department, in line with whole of government procurement strategy and governance frameworks.

Provide assistance in the development of and support procurement services strategy, governance frameworks and plans in line with strategic outcomes defined by the department and government.

Manage contracts through post-award lifecycle as the single point of contact for suppliers on all contract matters.

Establish and maintain operational practices for monitoring, reporting, and strategy identification of contract performance and compliance at agency-wide, category and whole-of-Government perspectives.

Liaise with customers to understand their local/operational requirements and recommend convincing solutions that support whole of Government and agency aligned goals.

Assist in building the procurement capability of staff by developing the knowledge and skills of team members and key stakeholders.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Design Director role will bring a wealth of experience in procurement and contract management. You will have a strong customer focus, with an agile approach to problem solving and process improvement. Your communication skills will be second to none, enabling you to build trust with customers and deliver on your commitments. You will be proactive and highly organised, able to work autonomously while knowing when to escalate issues to manage risk effectively. A deep understanding of procurement policies and practices is essential, as is proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract management related to large/complex agreements/standing offer arrangements.

Strong customer focus with an agile approach to problem solving and process improvement.

Effective communication skills with a proven track record of building trust with customers.

Proactive nature with high organisational skills; able to work largely autonomously while knowing when to escalate and engage to manage risk appropriately.

Understanding of key policies, practices and procedures in a procurement environment with the ability to apply the Queensland Procurement Policy 2023 in everyday work activities.

High level skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and Outlook.

Salary: AUD150,000 - AUD165,000 per annum
