Job Description The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Officer to provide our residents with housing and tenancy-related services to sustain their tenancies.

The position is a fulfilling role, looking after disadvantaged and vulnerable communities, assisting them in sustaining their tenancies, and enabling these communities to improve their general quality of life on many fronts.

The position will deliver quality tenancy management services while building and managing resident relationships. The role will also involve working closely with the property team to ensure properties are being maintained and working with the community development team to create a positive communal environment for residents to flourish.

The Position is based in Melbourne, and you will be a part of a close-knit, socially active, dedicated team of housing officers committed to helping clients.

Individuals with private rental market/real estate experience who want to transition to undertake a community-oriented role while utilising their existing skill sets and who are willing to learn and develop technicalities in working in social housing and learning about our residents are welcome to apply. Desired Skills and Experience About You Preferably a sound knowledge of tenancy legislation and frameworks and how it relates to housing. Degree in Social Sciences, housing, Public Sector Management, Social Work or related disciplines or equivalent experience Well-developed written and oral communication skills including mediation and conflict resolution. Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities. Capacity to work autonomously while working within a team Experience in managing a sizeable portfolio of tenancies in the public/community or private sector housing. Knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office and the capacity to use/ learn new systems and databases such as a housing management database Knowledge of legislation and regulatory frameworks relating to housing such as the Residential Tenancies Act Victoria . Experience or knowledge in working with people that are at risk of homelessness or have other complex issues. Knowledge of the Community Housing Sector and/or property industry and tenancy management practices. Experience dealing with complex and challenging housing management issues including eviction and court proceedings. We are seeking someone with sound technical skills and knowledge combined with a collaborative and flexible partnering style and strong commitment to our vision and mission.
