The LocationThe MidCoast is a large and diverse region on the mid/North Coast of NSW which comprises of 195 towns, villages and localities, stretched along their vast and stunning coastline (192km). The area ranges from beaches to mountains over an area of 10,000 km2 and is home to around 94,000 residents. The main population centres are Taree and Forster-Tuncurry, both very popular tourist destinations, the other centres include Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest, Gloucester, Hallidays Point, Harrington and Old Bar.
OpportunityThis is a full-time permanent opportunity, for a Manager Engineering & Projects to join MidCoast Council, based in Taree. This position reports into the Executive Manager Transport and Engineering, responsible for providing leadership, direction and management to the Projects & Engineering team (3 direct and 30 indirect reports) to ensure the achievement of outcomes in line with organisational strategies, objectives, vision and values.
The TeamThe Projects & Engineering team are responsible for:
Project delivery utilising external contracts or internal day labour resources
Project, program and portfolio management including monitoring and performance reporting
Design management internally or externally
Engineering standards and specifications
Development assessment, approval and construction supervision
Administration of the Roads Act approvals and bond process
Key RequirementsStrategic management of the Projects & Engineering department including people management and financial management. What's on OfferA competitive Annual Salary Package including a base salary between $149,000 to $179,000 per year, plus Super, plus Civil Liability Allowance at 3.5% and a car allowance up to $12,000 per year. CriteriaTo be considered, you must have:
Degree level qualifications in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
Previous work experience at a Supervisory, Team Leader of Management level
The commitment to delivering high-quality customer service outcomes, including the implementation of effective stakeholder engagement strategies, coupled with the ability to positively influence outcomes
The capacity to analyse and solve problems using quality judgement to make sound merit-based decisions
The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure to satisfy business planning, program and statutory requirements
A valid Class C Drivers Licence
Exposure to working within a Roads Authority or Local Government Authority is highly regarded (but not required)
