Established in 1970 by members of the local community, Family Life has had a rich history in supporting local families in the Bayside, Peninsula and Southeast suburbs.

Over the past 54 years, Family Life has had a strong growth trajectory supported by significant government funding, expanding services across the areas of Family Safety, Family Law and Family Support. We are strongly invested in place-based community initiatives including our Social Enterprise Stores. Family Life incorporated under ASIC in 2016. The organisation is made up of over 200 employees, 230 Volunteers and operates an annual budget of approximately $25 Million.

The Opportunity As a Board Director, you will support Family Life in its pursuit of its strategic objectives whilst laying the foundations to strengthen an exciting future that is focused on service excellence, innovation, and growth in meeting community needs. Our Board meets bimonthly and these meetings generally are held in-person at our Family Life sites in the Melbourne Bayside area.

Our Board Directors are the lead volunteers for Family Life. The Board is comprised of seven to ten Directors, appointed for three years, with the opportunity to seek reappointment for up to three terms (9 years).

We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas:

financial and risk management; business strategy development and implementation; growing business enterprises; digital transformation; and Key Selection Criteria Successful candidates will demonstrate capabilities in the following areas:

Strong understanding on how to apply the values, vision and purpose of Family Life. Leadership of Business Transformation Strategic thinking, Strategy development and Business Plan execution Board Governance Understanding of Fiduciary Duty Obligations of Boards GAICD (Highly Desirable) Community Networks (Highly Desirable) We are seeking independent thinkers who express their views respectfully and confidently, offering constructive contribution to Board deliberations and decision-making.
