The Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is a not-for-profit investor member organisation. We are the leading network for Australian and New Zealand investors to understand and respond to the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. We have over 100 members that include the region's largest superannuation and retail funds, specialist investors and advisory groups. Institutional investor members manage more than $35 trillion in global AUM, and almost $5 trillion AUM in Australia and New Zealand. IGCC aims to help our members navigate the global economic transition to net zero, with the goal of working towards aclimate-resilient economythat ison track, by 2030, for net zero emissions in 2050. We do this through our three workstreams:Corporate Engagement: Our Corporate Engagement team supports investor engagement with industry on climate risks and opportunities, with a focus on heavy emitters in the Australian economy. IGCC is a founding partner of Climate Action 100+ (CA100+), a global investor-led engagement initiative ensuring the world's largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change. This initiative shapes the vast majority of our engagement work.Policy and Advocacy: IGCC is the investment community's authoritative voice on climate change. Our policy positions are centred around advocating for orderly and just transition policies and are developed through thought leadership, extensive member consultation and research based on the latest science. We advocate for these policies by engaging with relevant decision-makers across Parliament, government departments and agencies, media, and other key stakeholders.Investor Practice: Our Investor Practice team helps members accelerate their net zero investment practice to integrate climate risk and opportunities into their investment processes and manage their portfolios in line with net zero by 2050.

Role description & responsibilities

Analyst, Corporate Engagement is a member of the Corporate Engagement team and reports to the Corporate Engagement Director.

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

Help facilitate the Climate Action 100+ initiative in the ANZ region by:

Being the primary IGCC contact providing technical and administrative support for several ANZ company investor engagement groups to support such things as review of annual climate-related disclosures, coordinate company engagement activities and monitor progress. (information regarding the CA100+ collaborative engagement approach can be found on the CA100+ website and in the CA100+ signatory handbook).Supporting the planning and delivery of investor led thematic and sector engagement campaigns (see handbook)Representing IGCC in global CA100+ working groups including the Climate Action 100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark. This is in collaboration with representatives from the other founding network partners.Supporting other elements of the CA100+ program of work, such as helping to facilitate investor and company engagement on sector standard development.

Manage and oversee delivery of thought leadership and research projects related to best practice active stewardship, corporate decarbonisation and climate governance, corporate climate disclosures and just transition.Organise and help facilitate bi-annual IGCC Corporate Engagement Working Group sessions and other ad-hoc member briefings as required (e.g. pre-AGM company briefings, CA100+ progress updates, sector standard briefings, IGCC Summit session).Assist with development and delivery of the IGCC Corporate Engagement strategy and workplan in collaboration with the team's Senior Manager and Director.Work closely with IGCC's Investor Practice and Policy teams as required to further IGCC's strategic goals. This may include assistance to support policy engagement related to corporate engagement themes, such just transition and investment in transitioning regions.

About you

As a self-starter with a proven track record of supporting engagement/investor activities and/or projects. You have a strong desire to work in a mission-driven and not-for-profit environment. You will ideally have at least 1-2 years' experience in responsible investment, finance or economics with a focus on climate or environmental matters.

In addition, you will ideally possess the following:An undergraduate degree.Experience in the finance sector, responsible investment, corporate decarbonisation and/or climate policy.A broad understanding of international agreements and domestic policies relevant to climate change and corporate decarbonisation.An understanding of the role investors play in driving the transition towards net zero.Experience understanding and interpreting corporate climate transition plans and associated disclosures.Experience delivering or managing the development of research, thought leadership or guidance.

Experience or expertise in any of the following will be highly regarded:Investor active stewardship and corporate engagement.Corporate climate disclosure frameworks and standards.Corporate just transition principles and planning.Relevant knowledge or expertise in the oil and gas, mining or manufacturing sectors.
