This role will develop the successful applicant's understanding of the energy industry and the broader resource supply chain. The energy transition is one of the most important, and complex, challenges of our time and this role will play a part in growing an established centre at a major research institution.Your responsibilities will span a diverse stakeholder landscape, including industry partners, government agencies, community groups, and students. You'll collaborate closely with Centre leadership to drive impactful communication strategies and enhance relationships with key stakeholders.Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Strategic Focus: Develop, implement, and evaluate an effective communication strategy that positively positions the Centre and its broader research program with stakeholders, including UQ, government, industry, and the community. Stakeholder Management: Support the Centre in establishing, developing and maintaining strategic relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, and implement an engagement program to enhance the Centre's presence and reputation. Content development: Develop content that showcases the Centre's priorities, capabilities, values, strengths, and achievements across multiple channels, managing the Centre's website and online presence to inform a broad audience, while also creating research translation tools and associated marketing materials for Centre research. Funding Support: Provide high-level support in the preparation of competitive funding applications, including strategic advice and editorial review, as well contribute to the preparation of a range of project reports, funding proposals, government submissions and scientific manuscripts to a high standard. Communication: Effectively liaise with external stakeholders, UQ staff, and researchers to identify proactive communication and engagement opportunities for the Centre, while skilfully managing communication regarding Centre activities, particularly around reputational risks and managing potential media issues. Strategic Insight: Stay abreast of opportunities and challenges impacting the Centre and provide proactive advice to stakeholders on how to leverage or mitigate them. Teamwork: Contribute to fostering teamwork, knowledge sharing, and process improvement within a tight-knit team environment, where flexibility is valued and occasional engagement in tasks below one's typical skill level may be required to support team objectives.Organisational RelationshipsThis position reports to the Centre's General Manager. The successful applicant will work closely with the Centre Director and academics regarding the development and delivery of communications strategy and activities, and management of the governance framework. The position also works with the Engineering Faculty Communications and Marketing team and the University's Office of Marketing and Communication.This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years.At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975.08 - $122,176.31, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500.84 - $142,946.29 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases - at least once a year.About You Exceptional candidates are encouraged to apply, as we are open to individuals who may not meet every criteria but possess the right attitude and strong willingness to learn and contribute.Postgraduate degree or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training in marketing and communications, or corporate/public relations etc.Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and monitoring a communication and marketing strategy for a range of stakeholders, including but not limited to industry, government and community.Outstanding written communication skills with a demonstrated experience translating complex information into plain language as demonstrated through recent work experience and a track record of successful delivery.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience building relationships with senior stakeholders in industry, government, peak bodies and community groups to support Centre activities.Demonstrated experience managing reputational issues impacting various stakeholders in a large, complex organisation or for an industry sector.Proven ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.Demonstrated experience in delivering and managing high profile and targeted events.Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and marketing and communications related platforms and software and digital asset management platforms.Knowledge of the resources and/or energy industry is desirable.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
