How you'll make a difference:The Executive Director, Strategic Policy and Evidence is responsible for providing leadership and driving complex, time-limited projects relating to health system reform and improvement work, and priority evaluations, providing flexible and specialised executive leadership across a broad range of issues within the department. The Executive Director is supported to undertake these projects by a team of staff drawn from across the branch, identifying and utilising the best match of staff skills to the project parameters and goals to ensure success. Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, System Planning, the Executive Director will bring key executive capabilities to projects including forming and managing project teams, navigating new and different authorising environments, brokering agreement across areas, communicating effectively to senior executives and government and quickly comprehending new and complex material.The Executive Director leads a branch comprising three units and a Design and Coordination team, and provides executive oversight, people management, capability development and wellbeing support for team members.The Executive Director will model excellent people leadership, fostering a positive workplace culture and demonstrating a commitment to employee health and wellbeing by embedding inclusion, communication and transparency across the branch. Ability to work closely with colleagues in a job share arrangement is also essential to success in this role.Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: Provide leadership and oversight of priority projects ensuring that activities are strategically coordinated to identify and evaluate new and emerging risks, opportunities, patterns and trends in accordance with Ministerial and government directions.Provide leadership and oversight of priority evaluation projects to ensure the department and government have a clear understanding of program impacts and value for money from investment.Apply a highly developed understanding of the health care system commensurate with an understanding of the social, political, environmental and economic contexts, including State-wide, national or international influences and opportunities for reform.Lead a high performing branch with responsibility for timely and accurate ministerial, parliamentary and legislative products relating to strategic projects and evaluations.Ensure effective and high-quality coordination and communication with other internal and external branches, groups and departments to ensure issues relating to the health and wellbeing of Victorians are properly considered and incorporated as part of public policy. Provide authoritative and considered advice to the Deputy Secretary, System Planning and other senior stakeholders in relation the health and wellbeing outcomes of Victorians.Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders within and outside of government to support and deliver on government priorities connected with the responsibilities and work of the group.Proactively lead, review and report on high priority and emerging issues, risks and trends and prepare and present comprehensive reports, strategic and conceptual ministerial briefs and cabinet submissions on complex and sensitive issues.Share in branch leadership responsibilities and contribute actively to the divisional executive group to ensure its human, financial and physical resources are employed in an effective, efficient and accountable manner.Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.Actively model the department's vision and values, demonstrating collaborative relationships, appropriate and effective governance, responsive leadership and accountability, community focus, and developing our workforce.
