We are offering a unique part-time, fixed-term opportunity for a Systems Engineer, working four days a week over six months, with the potential to extend your engagement to a full year. This hybrid role blends remote work with at least two days per week in Melbourne CBD office, providing flexibility within our dynamic work environment. This part-time, fixed-term role offers a remarkable chance to support a worldwide initiative while achieving a balance between your professional and personal life.   Position Overview: In the capacity of a Systems Engineer, you will undertake extensive support duties for both customers and systems within our tech operations. Your duties will encompass overseeing our standard operating environments and infrastructure, which includes the successful provisioning, setting up, configuring, running, and upkeep of our systems' hardware, software, and associated infrastructure across both Australian and overseas offices. Your efforts will establish a secure, dependable, and economically efficient tech base, empowering our clients' workforce and volunteers to effect substantial change around the globe.   Monitor, triage, and manage Service Desk issues, including applications, peripherals, and devices. Coordinate and ensure quality of services by external partners. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance, system monitoring, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization. Provide guidance on best practices for application and hardware use. Offer 3rd level support, troubleshoot issues, and escalate to third parties as needed. Maintain system documentation and manage licenses and hardware maintenance. Ensure timely application of updates, patches, and configuration changes. Manage backup operations, disaster recovery testing, and ensure system security. Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software environments. Support cloud services, manage server systems in Azure and AWS. Manage system changes, perform performance reporting, and contribute to disaster recovery and system standards. Implement security controls, manage vulnerabilities, and ensure application security. Project manage system upgrades/implementations and contribute to technology improvement projects. Manage identity and access, ensure compliance with security policies, and maintain organizational phone and server systems security. Supervise third-party support and mentor Service Desk team members. Lead projects for service and infrastructure improvements and integrations. Support technology services team, develop new responsibilities based on professional development goals.   Requirements   Proven experience in systems engineering, including hardware and software maintenance, performance tuning, and resource optimization. Strong knowledge of cloud services (Azure, AWS) including provisioning, configuration, and optimization. Experience with disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing. Familiarity with security protocols, vulnerability management, and compliance regulations. Ability to provide high-level support and guidance on application and hardware best practices. Experience with system documentation maintenance and license management. Skilled in project management, particularly in systems upgrades and technology improvement projects. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to triage and manage Service Desk issues efficiently. Experience in identity and access management, ensuring secure and compliant access control. Strong communication skills, with the ability to mentor and lead teams. A commitment to ongoing professional development in systems engineering and technology services.
