Job DescriptionFixed- Term 9 month contract, Full-time.$95, per annum plus SuperJoin the Strategic Communications and Advocacy team.Hume City Council is one of Australia's fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.This exciting opportunity is within the Strategic Communications & Advocacy team supportingĀ the development of strategic communications campaigns and projects to raise awareness of Council's services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.What you'll be doing:Contribute to the development and delivery of communications plans to raise awareness and inform our community about Council's services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.Provide strategic communications for key decisions of the Council.Support the development, execution, and evaluation of strategic communications campaigns.Develop high-level narratives, ensuring strong and consistent key messaging across all strategic communications activities.Provide specialist writing and editing for a range of communications materials and channels that are tailored for various external and internal audiences and stakeholders.Support brand reputation and tone of voice to maintain and improve engagement across all areas of the business and supports Hume City Council's strategic objectives.Monitor issues of importance and implement strategic communications activities as necessary to ensure Council's position is advocated clearly and easily understood.Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to support the strategic planning process and delivery of strategic communications campaigns and activities.The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:Ability to plan, research, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats.Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.Experience in the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of integrated communications strategies.A strong understanding of local, state, and federal government and experience working in a political environment.Ability to provide specialist advice to people unfamiliar with communication principles.Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively as part of a team to resolve problems and handle complaints effectively.Required Certifications & Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing, emergency management communications or a similar field.A current driver's licence.For any enquiries, please contact Trent Williams on email trentw.
