The opportunity we have available The Classification Branch provides policy and operational advice, education and training on the classification of films, computer games and publications. It delivers operational and secretariat support to the Classification Board and Classification Review Board (the Boards) and supports industry through the administration of approved classification tools.The Branch is also responsible for the oversight of the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 and the National Classification Scheme.

The Appointments and Governance Officer is responsible for:

Providing specialist advice to the section in the development of governance and regulatory models for the second stage of classification reform Supporting statutory appointments to the Boards Preparing Ministerial, Cabinet Executive Briefs related to appointments Working with the Boards on proposed appointees and managing appropriate numbers on the Boards Regular reporting and ad hoc appointment enquiries Supporting ministerial delegations for the Minister. Note:A merit pool will be established for a period of 18 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process to fill similar vacancies in the department and across the APS.

Who are we looking for? Our ideal candidate is familiar with, or interested in, contemporary media and technology, including films and computer games. They will demonstrate good judgement, a positive attitude, resourcefulness, initiative and flexibility to deliver results.

We are looking for a candidate who:

Has experience working with Cabinet and Executive Council appointments, as well as sound knowledge of governance processes within the Australian Government context Has an enthusiastic and flexible approach and the ability to work across a range of tasks in parallel Has strong written and oral communication skills, including presenting information to differing audiences that is readily understood Is able to solve problems and take responsibility for delivering outcomes Is able to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations Is able to develop and maintain working relationships, including with senior staff, and work as part of a dynamic team. What else can we offer? Eligibility requirements Employment with the Department of Infrastructure,Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:

Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport,Regional Development, Communications and the Arts applicants must be an Australian citizen.

Health Assessment: The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department's preferred medical provider.

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance atBaselineLevel. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances.
