Job DescriptionHCA is a leading national social housing provider. We develop and manage our own properties, work closely with the construction industry and financial institutions and partner with the state and federal government to manage some parts of our property portfolio. To support our commercial success and expansion, the HCA Legal team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with a minimum of 8 years of post-admission experience in property development, construction, finance or other related commercial matters.

The legal and governance team is a close-knit, hardworking team that works well with a strong sense of trust and camaraderie. The team is growing and this role will report directly to the Executive General Manager, Legal and Governance and work together with other experienced Legal team members.

The role will ideally suit a team-oriented person keen to learn, develop and provide leadership and support to other members of the Legal & Governance Team. HCA has a genuine flexible/hybrid work policy with five weeks of annual leave to improve employee well-being. The role can also be done on compressed hours (38hrs in 4 days) or part-time (0.8FTE). The position is a full-time ongoing role based in Melbourne (close to Melbourne Central station). Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout You Tertiary qualification in law and holder of the current practising certificate (or ability to readily regain practising certificate).8 years + post-admission experience.Experience in leading large transactions.Proven and significant experience in property, development, construction, finance or corporate (or related) lawDemonstrated interest in NFP or community sector.Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, sound commercial judgement, and decision-making ability, including identifying key issues.Strong interpersonal communication skills and relationship development skillsAbility to coach, mentor, and support team members and operate in a strong team environment.Strong knowledge and experience in the social housing sectorWe are seeking someone with sound technical skills and knowledge combined with a collaborative and flexible partnering style and strong commitment to our vision and mission.
