Senior Project Officer About us The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

About the role The NHVR is establishing a dedicated project team to develop a new performance-based module for fatigue management, which is a key outcome of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) Review. The performance-based module will replace the current fatigue modules as part of the NHVR's National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).

The project will work across multiple divisions to develop a new Safety Management System (SMS) approach to underpin the fatigue module. The work will involve reviewing and updating the current fatigue module requirements to ensure that the new performance-based tier reflects the current approaches and understanding of fatigue risk management.

In the role of Senior Project Officer, you will be involved in developing new business practices and producing industry guidance material, as well as streamlining business processes and identifying opportunities to move to digital platforms where appropriate.

This role will require the ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including industry participants.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Provide advice to the Project Manager and Project Sponsor on project direction, risks, issues and change impacts.Develop detailed implementation plans that incorporate key activities, critical milestones, dependencies and schedules using project management principles and standards.Organise and facilitate meetings and workshops, including preparing, collating, and disseminating paperwork and documents in a timely manner, such as agendas, minutes, management and performance reports.Undertake information and requirement gathering discovery sessions with the business, project and delivery teams to ensure there is detailed understanding of business processes and systems.Assist with the review and development of fatigue related artefacts.Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop a body of knowledge supporting the use of fatigue management risk controls.Conduct research and analyse safety data to provide authoritative safety management advice.Design and develop safety policy initiatives, including practical guidance, resources and tools to improve the quality and uptake of safety management systems across the heavy vehicle industry.Provide practical industry-wide education on best-practice safety management system development and implementation.Proactively monitor and evaluate the impact of safety management systems and initiatives.Produce high quality guidance material, support tools and resources.Analyse and interpret current service delivery practices and processes to support the development of effective safety management systems, procedures and guidelines.Develop a series of current and future state process maps to inform and support the development of streamlined safety management systems.Contribute to the development of technical designs in consultation with the business, product managers and technical leads to provide practical solutions.Identify opportunities for optimisation, digitisation and automation of systems and processes based on business requirements.Champion new ways of working and innovative solutions that promote productivity.Contribute to relevant submissions, briefings, policy documents and reports as required.Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.About You Strong organisational skills and demonstrated experience working in a rapidly changing and demanding professional environment with proven capacity to prioritise, multi-task, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.Demonstrated strong written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex issues and risks in high level documentation including reports, briefings, business cases and service level agreements.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of people to provide consistent, responsive and high-quality advice and project support.Well-developed understanding, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Management Regulation.Essential to the role: Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise responsibilities and tasks.Highly Regarded: Previous experience in project, engagement or change management roles.Knowledge of/or the ability to rapidly acquire working knowledge of the heavy vehicle industry.Demonstrated ability to communicate across a range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.Demonstrated skills in using technology and systems.How To Apply If the above position sounds like an opportunity for you, apply today with your CV and cover letter.
