Senior Research Analyst - Forecasts and Budgets

DescriptionJanes is seeking to recruit a senior research analyst to join its Forecasts and Budgets team, where they will contribute to output including Defence Budgets (JDB) and defence industry Market Reports. The role is based in our office in Bangalore, India.An ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the defence sector, including funding trends, major procurement programmes and national industrial capabilities. A keen enthusiasm for data interrogation and analytical rigour - including intermediate or advanced Excel skills - will also be favoured, as will the ability to clearly and confidently present findings to clients in writing and in person.Responsibilities:• Research, record, forecast and provide analytical insight into state defence budgets over a given geographic portfolio as part of the Janes Defence Budgets product.• Update Janes defence industry Market Reports covering production capabilities, company intelligence, business conditions, and procurement and offset policies.• Contribute expert comment and analysis to Janes journalistic and promotional material, including news articles and webinars.• Engage with both the wider company and clients when required.Skills and experience:• Excellent standards of written and spoken English.• Expertise in independent open-source quantitative and qualitative research.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.• Education to degree level in a relevant subject.• Experience in the defence, security or foreign policy sectors.• Market or economic forecasting experience beneficial.
