Description:Program CoordinationServes as an active, collaborative team member of community council, as well as various planning committees.Ensures that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.Supports the Community Services Director by providing day-to-day oversight to community services programs, ensuring ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that spiritual health is the driving force in creating program initiatives that are integrated into our mission.Oversees all CS food services programs (i.e., Community Kitchen, EDS Food Services, emergency food hampers, etc.).Oversees special and seasonal programs (Back-to-School Supplies Program, Christmas Assistance Programs, Summer Camp Registrations, etc.).Supports annual donation/fund-raising efforts (Christmas Kettle Campaign, Christmas Toy Drives, Year-round Food Drives, etc.) for the Ministry Unit.Makes recommendations for the expansion of food services in support of local needs and implements in accordance with approved Local Action Plan.Coordinates CS Warehouse operations.Assists the CS Director with ongoing asset mapping to ensure programming reflects community/guest needs as these evolve in our ever-changing socioeconomic climate.Support the Directors and Management Team in development and implementation of policies and procedures for CS programs overseen.Works with the Volunteer and Kettle Coordinator to plan for CS volunteer needs for regular, year-round programs and EDS responses and is a key component in the retention of these volunteer by upholding an engaging, positive and supportive work environment.May implement communication/donor relations strategies to ensure continued donations through community partners.Oversees and coordinates emergency assistance programs.Serves as TSA's EDS Liaison for Emergency Operations Centre operations when on-site at church gym. Ensures all required supports are provided.Serves as EDS Team Lead for all active EDS responses in community. Works with Directors/Management/Volunteer Coordinator/Divisional EDS Secretary to ensure adequate, ongoing volunteer support throughout incidents and to avoid volunteer/staff burn-out.Plans for regular team debriefs throughout and following each major EDS incident.Develops organizational strategies and recommendations for volunteer development for presentation to the Management Team.Engage with the Corps Officers/Director's Team to implement a local Emergency Response Plan, assisting with provincial/federal emergencies as required with Emergency Disaster Training provided by The Salvation Army.Volunteer CoordinationApplies and implements best practices and organizational strategies and recommendations for volunteer development after presenting to and discussing with the Management Team.May be asked to support the Volunteer and Kettle coordinator with feedback and coaching reviews with volunteers.Supports ongoing supervision, training, onboarding for regular, year-round volunteers.Provides direct supervision, on-boarding, and debriefing for EDS volunteers. Works with the Volunteer and Kettle Coordinator and the Divisional Emergency Disaster Services Secretary to ensure all local EDS volunteers have the required training (Intro to EDS, EDS Food Services, Emotional/Spiritual Support) prior to deployment.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENTGovernance Boards and Councils: Serves on Management Team, and other planning committeesInternal: MU Supervisors/Coordinators/Managers, Area Commander, Divisional Community & Family Services Coordinator, Divisional EDS Secretary, other DHQ/THQ advisors/consultantsExternal: Partner agencies and donors, Emergency Operations Command Centre staffMANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:Reports directly to the CS DirectorDirect Reports: NoneMay supervise EDS and CS program volunteersIn-scope support given to CS team membersFINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Supports the drafting of a budget for CS and monitors revenues and expenses for program overseen on a regular basis.Tracks EDS expenditures for invoicing to Provincial Government for Provincial EmergenciesRegular responsibility for financial expenditures and wise use of resources.May handle small amounts of cash.Minor material responsibility.WORKING CONDITIONS:Serves in an office environment within a busy CS ministry. The location of work may create a possibility of experiencing the following disagreeable conditions:people with challenging behaviorverbal abuse,minor risk of harm, injury, illness due to physical attacks from others and/or exposure to infectious diseases.more significant risk of harm, injury when supporting EDS responsesIntervenes if guests' behaviour changes.Must have a valid Driver's License and be flexible in their working schedule.Carries a cell phone.Interacts regularly with vulnerable neighbors/guests.The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army's Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Education/Certifications:Completion of BSW or equivalent degreeInternal SA EDS Training modules (Introduction to EDS, EDS Food Services, Incident Command and Emotional and Spiritual Care) will be completed during probation; regular Refreshers, as recommended by the Divisional EDS Secretary will be requiredExperience:A minimum of three years of prior related experience including experience in a variety of social service programs with some supervisory experience, and experience in oral and written communication.Required Skills/Knowledge:Ability to be a Spiritual leaderRespect for and understanding of The Salvation Army mission, culture, valuesAble to work in a consultative, diplomatic and tactful manner.Able to work cooperatively and effectively with mission partners, guests, visitors and the general public.Possesses personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the spirit, dignity and individuality of guests and mission partners.Strong communication skills-written, public speakingLeadership skills- strategic planning, inspirational communication, staff developmentOrganizational skills- scheduling, proposals, project management, special event coordinationManagement skills- Coaching, leading meetings, Human Relations management/supervision, staff documentation, program evaluation and design, volunteer management/supervisionPREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:Proficiency with the following computer software packages: Microsoft Office package, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Link2Feed preferred.Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:Background check consent.A clear vulnerable sector screening.A clean drivers abstract.Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.The Salvation Army will accommodate candidates as required under applicable human rights legislation.
